Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
That's what I'm thinking, as well, but I'm unsure how to explain to SJ I need all six boards replaced after less than a month lol. Doing it one by one will be a ton for shipping. They're only two hours from me, but still.

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
The Y buffer board just arrived. I installed it and, as I kind of expected, no luck. I've now replaced all boards except the e/f buffers below, so in theory this should be working now. I don't even know what to look at next. Any ideas?

Re: Samsung LN46C600 audio but no pic
Aztheroth, being in Iowa, there should be a Menards relatively close. I picked up my digital multimeter there for $12, and it's proven to be sufficient for these tests.

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
I've decided to replace the Y Buffer board (called the bottom Y scan drive on SJ), since it's cheap enough and I'm fairly local. I'll know tomorrow if that'll solve it.
I look at it this way: Unplugging the cables on the Y Buffer and messing with all the cable plugs on all the boards jarred something and made it work properly for a real short period, maybe the issue lies in the cables or the buffer.

I can't get this phenomena to repeat itself now.

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
Ok I tried something different, and unplugged all the cable plugs, inspected them for burning/wear (found none) then reinstalled them, seating them firmly. I had the top and bottom y buffer ribbons unplugged (4 plugged in), and I could actually run the Scrolling test!! It didn't kick out!
I took it a step further and plugged my phone into the TV via HDMI, and played the only video I had saved Ok my phone. It worked!! I went further, realizing the video was low quality, I decided to go onto YouTube and stream an HD video. Once I tapped...

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
Ok. So first, I redid the tests from last night, as out lines by Ijaz, because I had forgotten to unplug the main to control cable. The tests yielded nothing, no pattern was visible with any combination or ribbons. I then tried what after8 suggested, and again, nothing showed up on the screen. However, I can report that the backlight indeed works, and when I hot the Media P. button on the remote, the backlight to brighter. What any of that means, I don't know.

Re: Samsung PN42D450A2D No Picture
I'm a beginner, but I have a smiliar TV as you, with a similar issue. I do, however, recommend checking through my thread, as there are many great suggestions and tests listed within it. Hopefully we can both get our TV's back to normal.

I sure can! I'll try the test pattern when I get home.
I'd like to try the lightbulb test, but honestly I'm not sure I'm understanding it. Is there a diagram somewhere? I'm a much better visual learner, typically.

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
Correct, any combination seems to work. So am I to assume the buffer is okay? Forgive me for not being electronically knowledgeable, but what do you think this leads back to? PS Board? Should I open a claim with SJ to have my board replaced?

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
Hopefully that post isn't too confusing.
The long and short of it: I still cannot run the Image Burn scrolling option, whether there are 2 or 6 ribbon cables installed onto the Y buffer. However I did notice the ability to use the Media P. button on the remote, and have the screen show up without causing a fault, when I had 2-4 cables installed...over that trips the fault again. I also noticed the boards don't buzz when there are only 1 or 2 cables installed. Not sure if that's normal or means anything.

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
Alright, well, I gave Ijaz's advice a shot, and have some interesting feedback.
First, I tested each ribbon sequence, one, then two, etc. The display would not show a picture unless two or more ribbons are plugged in. Interestingly, when one or two ribbons are plugged in, there is no buzzing sound coming from the X and Y boards; 3 cables and more, the buzzing returns. I discovered when two, three, or four cables are plugged in, I can select the Media P. button on the remote and have the blue screen pop up. Five and six cables plugged...

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
Right. What should I look at next? The only two things I haven't replaced are the Y buffer and the two buffer boards tucked into the bottom of the unit (E and F buffers?).

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
The connections on the glass have no wear whatsoever, but after turning it on and having the fault occur again, I noticed the Main board is noticeably warmer than the other boards, after only one minute of use. Is this normal?

Good because that looks like it'd be a pain to replace, but damn, because we still don't have a root cause of this issue.

I'm hoping Tom or someone has any advice on what to do with those ribbons.

Yes those ribbons on the Y are all intact, no tears.

This is how they looked when I released them. My guess is the previous owner is responsible for this. How can I fix this? And what are they called?Last edited by Krenzy; 02-13-2015, 08:18 PM.

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
I did notice this: the two strips that plug into the X board have small tears in them. Would this affect it? How easy are they to replace? I noticed if I unplug one of them and hit the Media P button on the remote, I get a bright blue screen for had a second then the issue happens again, but it seems like it's more than I've seen before....
