Android Oscilloscopes , Cheap and good enough to test PSU ?
Hello ,
I found some of these videos on youtube , it seems like a super cheap way of making oscilloscope , with some old spare android device
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFA9CdusDWg
https://retronics.wordpress.com/2012/07/14/the-0-android-oscilloscope/
i know they won't be super accurate but are these types atleast good enough to check Spikes and Ripple output of desktop PSUs to determine whether PSU is outputting Safe and stable voltage quality reliably ?
any experiences, thoughts , comments ?

Re: Repairing Fortron Epsilon 600W
Hello ,
I am guessing that these types of spikes are harmful/damaging for other PC hardware ?
Assuming PSU is using good quality Low ESR caps
is their any way of making sure that this does not happen without having oscilloscope or other expensive testers to test, simply with a basic multimeter ?
I mean as a complete newbie i get the impression from reading posts here that , simply using good Japanese Low ESR caps should be enough for a decent power supply to supply clean and safe output and...Last edited by jarvis7; 02-18-2018, 11:43 AM.

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
a million thanks sir
what about glue on hipro Sir ? in the pics and video , glue is light brown/cream , and on X capacitor it looks identical to my bestec brown glue
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpost.php?p=10501&postcount=88
both the lite on models appear to have white glue..
some more detailed pics of a similar model of lite on Dell L305P-01
This is Dell L305P-00

Re: Repaired laptop charger , is it safe to use ? - General query
thank you sir , Then i'll leave it as it is if it doesn't have any negative effect on laptop
noise is very low , so it isn't irritating or distracting ..
Thank you !!Last edited by jarvis7; 02-08-2018, 03:35 PM.

Thank you The unique sir ,
yes i don't think i have an earth in my outlet , is this something to worry about ? and does this have negative effect on laptop's life ?
Thank youLast edited by jarvis7; 02-08-2018, 12:43 AM.

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Delta GPS 300 transistor has marking - P3NK80Z GKO6J CHN 619
and the IC next to Primary caps is - 3843B K9P623
So , i went to market -
I can swap this for HP-D2537F3H rev 3 for no extra money..
Not sure how much different R model is but here are the pics of D2537F3R by member Spacedye69 and a youtube video by anther member likely of badcaps

Re: Repaired laptop charger , is it safe to use ? - General query
Thank you sir ,
Yes it is like 50hz sound pattern.. i just noticed this a few days ago , maybe it was there before also , ..
i also tested this on my other 2nd laptop ..it isn't audible normally , but when i put my finger/skin on earphone jack and then touch it to any metal part of port i can hear it slightly
on this 1st laptop , it is audible without touching skin.. and when i touch skin it gets much more louder..
the other 2nd laptop's noise maybe is only 20-25%...Last edited by jarvis7; 02-05-2018, 03:09 PM.

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Thank you veryyyyyyyy much Momaka, Wester547 , Dan81 , Stephan Payne , Rukycon sir
i went to shop to see if return is possible , but shop was closed..
basically my only major concern and expectation is , will this Delta GPS 300 safely shutdown if any part fails/stops working ? all i expect is a very reliable design that won't damage motherboard , Ram or any other PC components if something goes wrong , something like Bestec 12E did with it's 2 transistor design ? .. i posted close up...Last edited by jarvis7; 02-03-2018, 04:15 PM.

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Thank you very much sir for replying ,
i am posting more pics , please have a look ..
It doesn't seem to have a fuse , No NTC Thermistor , and No yellow X cap ?
and on searching around here , it seems to be based on 2 transistor design ? the one that has Critical 5vsb cap, overvoltage probable like older 12E bestec had ?
Glue ok ?
Should i try to ask/pay extra to store owner to swap with the HP Hipro unit ? don't know the model , likely from...Last edited by jarvis7; 02-02-2018, 05:32 PM.

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
ok so i went to a used PC shop , specifically looking for OEM Delta units , with hopes of it being a very good power supply like all deltas are famous for and later recapping it with Japanese caps .. i saw 1 Dell Lite on unit at 1 store , 1 HP Hipro unit , and the third one turned out to be HP Delta unit
but after buying i am having doubts , is it a good Power supply ? it probably weighs less than half as my Bestec 250 12Z , not sure if any parts have been taken out.. doesn't seem to have that big transformer that my...Last edited by jarvis7; 02-02-2018, 11:59 AM.

Re: Repaired laptop charger , is it safe to use ? - General query
Thanks Momaka sir
as you know I got the caps replaced with Rubycon ZLJ and Nichicon HE , i don't know if this is a cause of concern or not ..
When i plug in earphones , i can hear some very low background noise in earphones , that varys in pitch if i put load on CPU .. This only happens when laptop is running through adapter , and noise disappears when it is running from battery , noise is slightly louder when i just simply touch earphone jack to USB or HDMI or VGA port

Re: the gutless, bloated, and fried power supply hall of shame
Thanks once again momaka sir
wouldn't bad Crossload performance and out of spec voltages be an issue with this PSU if used with a modern 12v heavy system ? something that 12E had like in this review ?
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story2&reid=154
although i plan on using it with Core 2 duo E8400/5700 , G41 type basic system , no GPU and likely no hard drive ( live Linux from pen drive ) ..
i hope it is alright...Last edited by jarvis7; 01-30-2018, 11:13 AM.

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Hello , i have a quick question,
This is a 10$ power supply
https://imgur.com/a/mBqtW
that has 2x 330uf 280v rated primary caps , will replacing them with 2 x 470 uf 200v "be safe" for both caps and PSU ? as replacement caps have lower voltage rating and will this power supply be able to handle higher capacitance ? i get 220v mains
just trying to experiment/test hold up time and see compatibility with my inverter switch over time.. it is in a basic spare...Last edited by jarvis7; 01-25-2018, 04:08 PM.
