  • Re: Sony 46X3000 errors

    Yes, I had a go at removing the Tcon board a few days ago but it's pinned in by the metal bracket that seems to be supporting the panel, will have to take a lot off to get to it. Luckily the TCON power fuse was on the lower edge of the board that is accessible.

    The linked diagram shows how the panel_on signal switches through the main 12v through to the Panel 12v which is the power for the T-con board. This is why the fluctuating signal is turning the Tcon on and off.

    I left the TV off for a while, came back in and it's...

    Hi,

    The DCV at the T-con board is fluctuating with the Power on Signal

    The connectors I checked were mostly on the PSU board as I it's screen printed with the voltages. so below is when the TV is powered up.

    All 12V lines are 12.28 and remain that way on standby
    All 6V lines are 6.13V and remain that way on standby
    Audio_Vcc is 13.77
    DIMMER changes from 3.2v to 0.02v every 2 seconds
    Balancer_err = 0v
    Inverter_err = 0v
    Back_light = 0v
    AC_rly = 4.83v
    PFC_DET...

    Hi,

    Just checked every voltage test point I could find and all seems as it should be.

    The TV power light turns green for about 30 seconds then back to red and flashes 5 times indicating a T-con issue.

    No backlight comes on during this time.

    I put the old AE board back in and it went back to 8 flashes (audio error).

    I did find another similar fluctuating signal on the PSU connectors on pins labelled DIMMER. Seems these are originally fed from the same Microcontroller on the main board....

    Uploading the Service Manual timed out on the board so I saved it to my server....

    Good point.

    I checked the voltage at the main T-con fuse and it is going from 12v down to zero once every 2 seconds.

    Traced this back to the Panel 12V on the UB1 board which is switched through by the Panel_on signal coming from the Main board micro-controller which is showing the same pattern. (voltages from the PSU are steady 12V)

    I am not sure if this is telling me much, could just be that the micro turns on the T-con and if it doesn't get a correct response, it turns it off and tries again a second later. Altough...

  • Sony 46X3000 errors

    Hi folks,

    I have a Sony 46x3000 that came to me with the led flashing 8 times, couldn't find anything obvious with the audio system so swapped the AE aboard.

    The 8 flashes have now gone, the green led comes on and the Sony logo lights up on the frame, but no backlight.

    Then after 30 seconds or so it switches back to flashing the led 5 times. I believe this indicates a TCON error according to the service manual.

    Checked connectors and TCON fuses, all seem to be ok.

    Any advice on where I should go next. I am tempted to now...

    Luckily I didn't pay for the TV, got it free via Freecycle.

    Can't help feeling that even getting it for free, might have been a bad deal

    Will probably donate it to my son's bedroom and keep my old Philips 32" Plasma for the lounge.

    Hi, replaced the main board and all working ok, thanks.

    You are all right though, now that its working, it is a poor TV, lots of noise in the picture, issues with movement blur and very tinny speakers.

    Hi, yes I checked all the standby and run voltages, all are fine. It's just the Standby led that doesn't come on. I guessed that as blinks via cpu control, if the cpu was not booting then the led may not work too.

    The code you mentioned above does look like the panel is an LG I can't find a separate sticker on the chassis.

    Thanks

    I couldn't find part number matches on Shop Jimmy unfortunately.

    I am hoping that because there is no standby led and no static volume increase from the speakers, the remote is working to switch the backlight...

    Hi,

    I have the same model TV, did you ever find a fix for yours?

    Same symptoms for me, I have the PSU and main board circuit diagram and went through the Standby and run voltages, all ok. PSU seems fine, no bulging caps. disconnected the PSU cable and jumpered it so I could run the PSU and jumper the backlight on, all tests ok.

    I bought a main board from Ebay and it didn't cure the issue, but ...

    It has a different fault now, where before the touch panel buttons beeped and there...
