Re: Samsung ATIV Tablet dead
Means? I don't understand.. This capacitor was just for the power led. I think we shorted something that powers this capacitor and led.. like a charging IC maybe.....

Re: Samsung ATIV Tablet dead
Ok so 3V is not enough? I can try to slowly charge the battery a little at least via USB whilst monitoring the voltage to get the tablet to recognize it...

Re: Samsung ATIV Tablet dead
When I shorted the capacitor as mentioned in the previous post I saw some smoke and the tablet died and would not power on. So I removed the battery connection it started working 30 mins later after plugging the battery back in.
Shouldn't the tablet power on without the battery connected? Just on AC power? Could it be a bad power IC?...

Re: Samsung ATIV Tablet dead
OK
1. I tried to replace the resistor marked (1) in the picture and shorted out capacitor marked (2)
2. The device would not power on anymore since the battery completely lost charge...

Re: Samsung ATIV Tablet dead
Can somebody please try to help me? I really need to get this working. Perhaps there's a power IC we can identify and try to test or replace.
Thanks

Samsung ATIV Tablet dead
Hi so I have a Samsung ATIV 500T Tablet running Windows 8 and recently the power LED died which I traced back to a bad SMD resistor, unfortunately in the process of replacing this I shorted out a small SMD capacitor that was in parallel to this LED, I saw some smoke and the device shut off. The device would not power on so I removed the battery connector and after an hour the device powered on and was functioning as normal for about two weeks. After this I left the tablet unattended for about a week and I think the battery had completely died so I plugged it in and nothing. It was completely dead....
