I thought I would share my learnings trying to fix an RCA 40" LCD TV, and hopefully get guidance on where to go from here. The story so far:

1.TV had AV board issues similar to someone constantly pressing the buttons on the remote; channels would constantly change in rapid succession, such that nothing displayed except the display for the input, which scrolled incessantly.

2. I had found an AV board for a 42 inch version of the same TV. The boards are very much identical, but I assume have different software. Swapped out with this board and...
