Re: Acer AL1916b LCD PSU
If its the bottom right-most cap, it's C242 (I had to scrape off some of the glue crap too), which is 10v 470uf.
No problem, glad I could help out.

D'oh! I guess I can't read either. Hold on a sec and I'll give you those values.

Re: Acer AL1916b LCD PSU
I'm a bit of a lazy ass, and haven't got around to swapping out the caps. If you give me the PCB number I can tell you what the cap values are.

Re: Acer AL1916b LCD PSU
I did find and test the red circular one on the middle left side, not realizing there were two others. I take it they are the two black rectangular ones on the bottom right by the 8-pin connection interface?
I did a diode check across the red fuse and it was ok. What ohm reading should I see?

Re: Acer AL1916b LCD PSU
BTW, what is a good brand? I am ordering from Digikey (Canada). I don't see Rubycon, but there is Panasonic.

Re: Acer AL1916b LCD PSU
I can't tell what the 400V is, the way it's bent and glued. I'll order one and the 22uF (crapXon I see now) to be safe.
What is that white glue crap anyway?

Acer AL1916b LCD PSU
Hey,
I found a 'dead' LCD monitor at work that a customer brought in. It has been sitting on the bench for months so I decided to crack it open to see what I could see. When I popped the PSU out, the problem was obvious: 6 swollen CapXon caps.
There are two on the board that still look fine. One is a 100uF 400V cap and the other is a 22uF 50V cap that is in an awkward spot. I can't tell the brand of either of these two. Should I replace them as well?
This will be my first attempt at replacing caps, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...
