Re: Samsung LN52A630 takes a couple tries to turn on
Ok, it has turned on reliably every time since I soldered in the 100uF cap. Thanks!
It looks like C102 and C131 are input caps on the 5V supply to two of the regulators, so if C131 is bad, the temporary fix leaves the new capacitor pretty far away from IC102. I think I'll replace C102 and C131 with the caps matching the original specs (47uF, small enough to fit on the existing pads) this weekend.

I'll try that, thanks. It'll probably be a few days to get the cap. Is it ok to use short stub wires to connect the temporary cap?
edit: it looks like the 100uF caps are physically larger than the original (47uF 10V 70mOhm), so I'll need wires anyway.Re: Samsung LN52A630 takes a couple tries to turn on

Samsung LN52A630 takes a couple tries to turn on
I recently started having issues with my Samsung LN52A630M1FXZA - it turns on and shows a very corrupted display, then turns itself off and on again, usually coming up properly on the 2nd or 3rd attempt. Sometimes when the display is corrupted, the speakers screech. After it turns on successfully, I can turn it on and off reliably. The failures usually happen the first time I turn it on each day.
I opened it up and the caps all looked flawless (no bulge, no leakage), but I replaced 6 caps: CM854, CM855, CM856, CM858, CM851, CM852
). I didn't replace CM859 (a 50V 47uF cap)....Last edited by CTho9305; 01-19-2015, 10:24 PM.
