Here is a crazy idea. Would placing a 3/4" wide Kapton tape over the center connection be counter productive in any way. I do not see how (the tape is designed for high temperatures, it is not electrically conductive, it is ESD safe, holds well). If this is truly a failure mode, it means that LG failed in the design between the mounting of the LEDs and the strip temperature expansion, and help to re-enforce the joints would be a good idea.
I will contact repair shops and send my board out. I will verify that panel LEDS are fine first and then do that. Thank you for the help and your time. Cheers
Thank you all. Now that I think about the suggestion of center connections going bad, it totally makes sense. That is the only thing that can explain 90 minutes off time after 20 minutes on time with LEDS being actually ok. With active heat it takes 20 minutes to stretch the led strip and 90 minutes to contract back to the original length and make contact again. This was cool. Thank you
I see. I will look when I get home. None of my pictures cought that detail.
I have been reading service and training manuals, but could not figure out how to determine if backlite diodes are fine if there is no mainboard 3.3V to supply TCON board and other controls. Unless it is this 220ohm to ground test. In that case, should I disconnect cables between main and TCON board (LVDS/power)?
TV works for 20 minutes. Then the screen goes black but the sound stays on. It comes back normal after 90 minutes (not seconds). If I turn off the TV and then back on again before about 90mins, it will flash the LG logo briefly then will be black again. Unplugging the TV and plugging it back in makes no difference.
I do not understand where this timeout of 90 minutes could possibly be coming from. Any ideas. Thank you
Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, This is my first post. I live in Canada, but am from Europe originally. I love electronics and being here feels like paradise. This i my kind of reading. More later. It took me w while to figure out how to post here. LOL
Late to join this discussion, but my TV just failed. This case is almost identical in part to mine. I also measure ~13 ohms from 0.9_core rail to ground. I also measure the same ~12-13 ohms from 3.3V_norm rail to ground. Replaced IC505 no luck.
All connections between the two are through at least two resistors. Another common point is the main controller. Any other ideas? Thanks you
