• Re: Cheaper ESR meter

Hello,

That proves my point, an analogue display ESR meter would pick up the faulty from the good ones easily without having to spent time on looking for capacitance values and voltages off the caps.

The only problem is with caps below 10 uF, perhaps special circuitry installed at the flick of a switch will take care of it.

• Re: Cheaper ESR meter

Hello,

I already have Bob Parker ESR meter. However, the analog type, in my opinion, are much better, easier to read.

With Bob Parkers ESR, it becomes essential to look at the value of the capacitor and then compare it with the value on the table, however, this problem does not exist for the analogue meters I have read about, it is either good or is bad.

Getting a digital readout is not really such a great idea. What does it mean if the reading is slightly higher than the value indicated on the panel, the cap is...

Hello,

I quote

"good day everyone!

much to my regret, i've built this circuit even before i was able to read this thread.

anyway, is the circuit posted in the first page makes the meter read lower esr value better? the circuit i built reads about 1ohm at 95% deflection and about 50% deflection at 33 ohms."

From the above, in one of your previous posts (to be found on page 2), you have a deflection of about 50% at 33 ohm.

In you last post (page 3), you say that...

• Re: Cheaper ESR meter

Hello,

Well duldog, there must be something wrong with your meter. I have not build the meter you are talking about (if someone could send me JUST the board, would greatly appreciated it), for a good cap over 10 microF, the ESR should be <= 1 Ohm. For a bad cap over 2 Ohm, lets say 3 Ohm.

33 ohms, as you say, is about at 50% deflection, therefore, for your meter to indicate 3 Ohm, the needle would have to be very close to where the reading for a good cap would read, making it very difficult to decide if it is a good cap or...

• Re: TV cap question

Hello,

Sorry Larry Moe and Curly, but ALL TVs have a transformer in the PSU. I've have been in the business for over 20 years and to this date I have not seen a TV without a transformer in the PSU.

However, some of the other comments you are making a correct.

Thanks

• Re: Toshiba Rear Projection TV - Help

Hello,

No sufficient information is given as you question stands at the moment. Tell us something about the blinking rate - this is the code as to likely cause of the problem, or do a Google search using TP55H60 as search word, a number of faults are listed. By the way, the chassis number for this RPTV is TAC9863.

Hello kc8adu,

Have a read at this article: http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets_pdf/B/T/A/1/BTA12-600C.shtml

and compare the info with respect to the info given on testing Triacs in the URL you provided.

• TRIAC BTA12 - Your thoughts, Please!!!

Hello,

Have a TRIAC, ID: BTA12. Here is the URL for the datasheet:

http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets_pdf/B/T/A/1/BTA12-600C.shtml

The package is a TO-220AB Insulated, in other words it is packaged the same way as most HOTs. The only difference between HOTs and TRIACS is that , leg 1 from the left is Anode 1, leg 2, the middle leg is Anode 2, and leg 3 is the Gate.

On connecting a digital multimeter regardless of polarity between Anode 1 and Gate, the resistance is ~45 Ohms.

There is no reading between...

Hello,

Mitsubishi LCD Monitor, Model: DV153 - Fixed. The problem was the four above mentioned caps, that is,

1. C725 ( 470uF @ 25V )
2. C75 ( 470uF @ 25V ) <-- This cap is next to L701 and could be C751.
3. C703 ( 1000uF @ 35V), and
4. C707 ( 1000uF @ 16V).

Originally, I thought, they were the effect but after extensive non power testing on individual components proved negative, the monitor was fire up and worked fine.

The puzzle...

• LCD monitor by Diamond View, a Mitsubishi, Model: DV153

Hello,

This LCD monitor is a Diamond View by Mitsubishi, Model: DV153, dispayed a blinking green light at power up.

Found 4 caps bulging, some in the inverter section:

1. C725 ( 470uF @ 25V )
2. C75 ( 470uF @ 25V ) <-- This cap is next to L701 and could be C751.
3. C703 ( 1000uF @ 35V), and
4. C707 ( 1000uF @ 16V).

Should I be looking for other effected components, as well.

Need schematics, equivalent model number(s) and chassis number for this model.

Both power supply and...
