• Re: RCA 46LA45RQ bad inverter board

I ended up purchasing a new board from buyqual.com, which resolved my issue with a Sony KDL-46BX450. Send me a pm if interested in the old broken inverter board still....

Just an update, but I purchased a new inverter board from buyqual.com in China. This fixed the issue. TV works normal now with the new board installed.

  • LG 50LN5600 Light Spots

I have an LG 50LN5600 television that had the two seconds to black issue. The problem was that one of the LED backlight strips shorted. I replaced the offending backlight strip with a used one from ebay. However, I now notice that there appears to be 3 light spots on the screen which appear in the area where I made the replacement. I have attached a photo where it can be clearly seen. The issue is almost invisible when watching the TV. However whenever there is a solid color being displayed (like when first turned on with no source), I can notice these "light spots" on the screen. ...

  • Re: Bose QuietComfort 20 Earbud Repair

I was able to scrape off enough of the epoxy/potting compound and reveal the silkscreen layer beneath. Luckily, each input was labeled accordingly. From left to right, the inputs are Mic -, Mic+, R, L, Gnd. I bought some cheap TRRS earbuds from walmart and used the connector to solder to the Bose headset.

After it was all said and done... it works again! I have dabbed some silicone adhesive on the newly soldered connection and will be using sugru to provide some strain relief. Hopefully, this will work out well for the future......

  • Re: Bose QuietComfort 20 Earbud Repair

It is kind of hard. I ended up just taking my soldering iron to it and melting the majority of it off. I have at least exposed the connection points. However, I seem to have uncovered a fifth connection now, whereas I previously thought there were only 4....

  • Re: Bose QuietComfort 20 Earbud Repair

I was able to open these quite easily. I had to peel off the ends which had a sticker type protection over them and then was able to pry the rest of the case open using a razer blade and another sharp straight edge. So, after opening this up I see where the appears to be some kind of black compound/glue where the inline TRRS adapter previously plugged in. It can be seen at the far right of the uploaded photo. Does anyone here have any advice on standard wiring practices for one of these audio plugs?

The real question is how can...

  • Bose QuietComfort 20 Earbud Repair

I just purchased a broken pair of Bose QuietComfort20 earbuds from ebay. The description indicates that the headphone jack was accidentally ripped out of the main board (with the active noise canceling). I have an addition to purchasing broken electronics. The photos from this device can be found here

I have not seen anyone who has opened this device up, but it does not look like it is very intuitive (likely destruction is required). Does anyone here have...

  • Re: Sony KDL-46BX450 No Power

OK, when I plugged in the tv to attempt your reset procedure, the backlight came on (for 1 second before shutting off)! No idea what has changed other than a couple of reseats of the inverter board. However, now the buttons on the side of the television do not appear to have any effect. The standby LED is also a solid green now. There are no error codes.

On subsequent power offs (via the remote), the television will display the SONY logo for a second before the backlight turns off. The TV is still powered as the standby LED remains solid...

I received the same error code (6 blinks) with the inverter unplugged. I checked the fuses first thing when I suspected the inverter. They are all good. I will try to monitor the err lead shortly....

Are there any other suggestions for helping me to isolate the inverter board? The fact that the board never lights the backlight suggest to me that the inverter board is most likely the issue.

This is the same board I am possibly interested in. I created a thread yesterday with my issue. I could not figure out how one could order the board from that website. I am interested in how this works out for you.

  • Sony KDL-46BX450 No Power

    Hi all,

I received a Sony KDL-46BX450 from my grandparents who had a technician come to their house to diagnose their tv and fail to repair it. My grandparents had a warranty on this and were able to get a new television out of this deal, thus me inheriting the TV. The issue that I have is the standby LED blinks 6 times repeatedly once the TV is plugged in (no video or audio). I have attached the service manual for this TV to this post.

The repair guy thought it was the power board and ordered a new power board for the television, but it failed to fix the issue (same...

  • Re: Emerson LC401EM3F Backlight and Audio Work, No Video

Well... After jumping the wire, I believe there was a picture. Unfortunately, I was not in a position to see it when I powered the unit on since I smelled burning and saw a puff of smoke and quickly disconnected the power. There is a reason fuses are integrated in the board...

Sure, see attached photos. The LCD panel is LTA400HM09-F05. I figured that was the LCD display driver board. I will check accordingly. Thanks.

Edit: Found the fuse and it appears to be blown. I will try jumping a wire temporarily and see what the results are....

  • Re: Emerson LC401EM3F Backlight and Audio Work, No Video

I verified 12VDC on the pins (1-4) that go from the digital main to the LCD module. I presume the fuse you are referring to would be inline with this input. However, I may be looking in the wrong place.

I have never heard of a 0 ohm resistor. Is this a resistor that has essentially no resistance?

The schematic for the digital main can be seen on pages 53-58 of the referenced PDF in my first post. A top-level overview of inputs and outputs can be viewed on page 66-68. Any additional guidance is...

  • Re: Emerson LC401EM3F Backlight and Audio Work, No Video

As far as I can tell, the two televisions are identical and the parts interchangeable. I apologize in advance, but I cannot find any fuses on the TCON board. I even searched the schematics and did not find reference to them on the digital main board. See attached photo. I was expecting to see something near the two black connectors that are inputs to the board....

  • Emerson LC401EM3F Backlight and Audio Work, No Video

Hello all! I have just started picking up broken televisions and trying to repair them as a hobby. I picked up a 40" Emerson LC401EM3F on Craigslist and have started troubleshooting it, but I am not sure what my next steps should be.

I was having power supply issues when I first started looking at it. The television would power on for about 2 seconds (with backlight) and then go immediately back to standby mode. For some strange reason, yesterday this problem disappeared and I was able to get the backlight to stay lit. Additionally, I plugged in a source into the HDMI port...
