Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in
Hi Lojix. I ordered the tantalum capacitors from www.rs-online.com here in the Philippines but this same online store is also in Australia. The store is http.//au.rs-online.com/web and the stock no. is RS Stock No. 737-2832. The brand is NIC Components and the specs is 470uf, 2.5v, ESR 6mO, Surface Mount. It cost $4.27 each (in pack of two). I preferred this cap because it has an ESR of 6 mO. Using four of these will give an effective ESR of 1.5 mO which very close to the required ESR.
I hope this will...

Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in
Hello everyone. IT WORKS!!!I am so happy to let you know that my Toshiba
Satellite A305 is ALIVE again! I replaced the NEC TOKIN OE 128 with four 470
uF 2.5 volts tantalum capacitors as suggested in this forum. Now my Toshiba
laptop is running again! Thank you all for the help. Thanks to the Badcap forum.
A very informative and helpful forum you are.

Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in
Thank you so much for the info rievax_60. The reason I asked the question was because I planned to solder a thin copper foil over the two inner negative terminals; but now with you info, I would just scrape off the solder resist to expose the copper print so as to make it easier to solder four tantalum capacitors on it. Thanks for the help....Last edited by Marbc; 02-23-2015, 08:18 AM.

Greetings everyone,
I am from the Philippines and I am 80+ years of age. I am an electronics enthusiast since the 1950s when transistors, IC and personal computers where still unknoun. I came to this site while searching the net for the possible solution to my Toshiba laptop hardware problem. Luckily, I found the solution in this forum site.
