Re: Lg 42lb5600-uh
Ok, I got the tv fixed. It was indeed the LED strips. I got them from shopjimmy for total cost of $69.
Thanks a lot to all who helped me on this. It wasn't all that difficult of a repair if anyone is thinking about doing it yourself.

Sorry bud, it's been so long I forgot about that.
Is that the consensus best place among the regulars here?...

Re: Lg 42lb5600-uh
So where do you guys get your parts? I've got the tv torn apart and I can see the numbers on the strips. Now I just need to source some replacements.

Ok. Thank you budm. I don't have a service manual so I can't check out the boost circuit. Good diagrams always help though

Re: Lg 42lb5600-uh
I saw the 208v but, why do I initially spike way above and then fall to 102v? Is the falling to 102 because the LED driver is shutting down?...

Hey guys, I have sound but, no picture.
I've checked voltages at the power supply connector. The voltages listed are all there. There are 2 12v pins a 24v pin and 2 3.5v pins.
I can see the menu with a flashlight so the T Con board looks fine.
I checked the connector going to the LED strips. When I first turn the TV on, I get about 260VDC. It then quickly starts falling and settles at 102VDC. This happens with the LED connector plugged in and, unplugged.
Is this the LED driver shutting down because one or more LED's are defective...

The measurements I took were with zero legs up...Last edited by Rockguy; 09-12-2016, 01:33 PM.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U Noise
I always believe in following up. It turns out it was my Directv receivers HDMI output making the noise. The TV was not at fault at all. I fixed it by doing a hard reset of the receiver. Another thing to put in my memory bank.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U Noise
I made a video so hopefully it helps figure this out. It's annoying to watch the set like this.

Panasonic TH-42PZ77U Noise
This TV just started to make an annoying noise with the audio. During quiet passages, there is no noise. It's not a constant thing. It's like distortion in the voices. Has anything like this been brought up around here?

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board repair 7 blinks
I'm not an expert but, I got mine going. Here is one thread. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=43470 In my first post in that thread, there is a link to another helpful thread. Start by doing the test without lifting any legs. Set your meter in diode mode. There are pictures that show you how to test. Here is another helpful thread. Learn from my mistakes.
You may want to start your own thread so the experts here can help you.Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board re...> <br /> I'm

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board repair 7 blinks
OK, let me tell you about my experience. I did not lift the legs of all of them to test. I tested everyone with the legs intact first. I recorded my findings on paper.
My problem was in the Q 641-646 bank. Reading around here, others seem to have the same area so start there.
Have a look at the thread I started. You will see my measurements in post #8. Again, those were taken with no legs lifted. The .045 is a red flag on that bank. I then found that Q644 the left leg measured lower...

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board repair 7 blinks
So you have actually identified the bad transistors? How many bad ones are there? Like tom said, it takes a lot of heat. Don't try and pry on it either. You have to get it hot enough that it easily comes off or, you have the same problem I had which you can see on the previous page. Luckily I was able to solder the new one on and it works fine but, I still don't want to see it happen to you. Heat the heck out of that back tab....

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U 7 blinks
Well, I decided to just solder the new FET to what remained. It seems to be working fine. TV powers up and comes to the setup as a new tV screen. The problem is you need the remote and I don't have one. I can't believe there isn't a select button somewhere on the set itself. Anybody know a way I can do this without a remote?
