After further research relating to the mainboard as you mentioned it appears thats the case....

I have recently purchased this LG 43UF680V the tv works fine and plays audio fine and the menus work and display faultlessly but it wont play any sort of video from any source the video is scrambled but the audio is fine. after some reading i suspect i could be a t-con board possibly? its surely some sort of video processing issue....

This is a problem i haven't seen anywhere on the net, its a 60inch plasma TV and when i turned it on the screen was almost totally black and a little bit of video began to appear and after a few minutes and even now its still clearing giving a good picture there is still some in one corner. its not faded and negative like just totally back in patches. it has a buzzing coming from one side at the rear leading me to believe it may have something to do with it. i will add pictures to this post shortly and try and get the back off to have a look around.
