  • Re: Help with board LA-9872P short to earth

Hi, just curious if you had any luck with this repair? I have the same board and same problem. Thanks!

  • Re: Vizio E701-A3 Reassembly After Backlight Repair

Thanks for posting those, looking at the second one it appears the stark white layer didn't actually need to come out, it's furthest from the panel and then the 2 diffusers are on top of the hard plexiglass. Lesson learned, hopefully

  • Vizio E701-A3 Reassembly After Backlight Repair

Kind of embarrassed to ask this but - I kept the diffusers in the correct order but can't remember which one goes closest to the panel.

There is a white one that's not very translucent, then the thick plexiglass piece (this is an edge-lit tv), and then 2 more layers of diffusing pieces of plastic. I have them in the same order they were when they came off the tv to get to the backlights but which one goes towards the metal frame and which goes next to the panel? Thanks for any input.

  • RCA LED65G55R120Q Panel Removal

I'm preparing to remove the panel of this 65" to deal with bad LED's. There is a Youtube video which says this model is unique in that you lift the frame of the TV off the panel while the panel is resting on a flat surface. This is opposite the normal procedure of lifting the panel up after removing the frame bits. Can anyone confirm this is the case? It's a quite a big TV and would like to know before I start unfastening things. Thanks.

  • Re: Vizio E701-A3 Backlight Question

Thanks Bud. PS ON is high, BL ON is high, the voltage between the legs of the filter caps never goes above 168v. I ordered a tested replacement PS board with a warranty, apparently these can be repaired (shopjimmy sells a repair kit) but doing the math it made more sense to buy a board with a warranty. I just hope I didn't damage the panel taking it apart, I was extremely careful but you never know. Will report back.

  • Re: Vizio E701-A3 Backlight Question

Reading through other Vizio and Sharp posts, it looks like it may be a PS problem. I'm only getting 165v across the legs of the filter capacitors, circled in orange in the attached pic. Is that low?
    Thanks for any input....

  • Re: Vizio E701-A3 Backlight Question

I've read through all the threads I could find, I've tried:

    Vol-, input, plug in.
CH+ CH- press power, release power, release other buttons
    Vol+ CH- then plug in

    No success so far.

  • Re: Vizio E701-A3 Backlight Question

I have determined there is 3.2V at the "BL ERR" pin, this voltage is present immediately upon pressing the power button. Is this sent from the main board to the PS or is this the PS sending it to the main board? It seems almost too quick for it not to be a "remembered" error....

  • Vizio E701-A3 Backlight Question

This TV would turn on, you could see the Vizio logo for a few seconds and then shut down. Stripped it down, found one led on one strip that was bad, replaced the strip with a used one, now the tv won't start up the backlights.

I tested each of the strips individually with an LED tester, two are at 170v fully lit, the used replacement is at 171v. Is that enough of a difference to stop it from starting?

The power supply starts to ramp up the voltage, seems to get to about 60 and then ramps down with the LED strips connected. Since not all of the pins on PS board are available...

  • Re: LC-42LB261U No Picture

Jason, if you're still following this I'm working on the same model. Got it with no backlights but had sound. Opened it up, 5 failed LED's, fixed those, buttoned it back up, TV responds to the buttons and remote but no video. Did you have to do anything to reset the mainboard? I read somewhere, I think the service manual, that after so many attempts to start up with an error (backlight) it will go into a permanent state of no-start, even if it's fixed. Thanks for your thoughts.

No I haven't, I've never even heard of it. I take it it's self-explanatory? What info should that yield?

  • Re: LG 55UF6450 Power Supply Pinout Voltage Question

Well, to answer Bud's question, yes, on my TV the on voltage is there all the time, and it has done that with both main boards I have tried. I bought a replacement power supply, the pattern on the screen changed but it still doesn't work (no picture or menu). I swapped the Tcon, that changed the picture (from one dark band down the middle to just blank) but it still doesn't work. It has become my great white whale. Saturday I'm picking up another one that still works but has a cracked screen. Hopefully this will provide me with...

  • LG 55UF6450 Power Supply Pinout Voltage Question

I've been working on this 4K tv, it starts but turns of and off, the logo never comes up. I've done a lot of TV's but this one was a mystery. Seemed like a main board issue, replacing that with one I am 98% sure is good, TV acts the same. I started looking at the power supply and I'm trying to figure out which pins are supposed to be putting out what. I've never seen the attached diagram style before, can anyone assist? I downloaded the service manual but it doesn't show the voltages at the various connectors.

I'm getting 8v on several pins, just for a fraction of a second the...

  • Re: HP PL4260N Measure IPM Output

Thanks Bill and Ray. I downloaded the alignment guides, very nice.

I don't have a scope right now so I thought I'd check everything I could before asking someone to align it for me (or borrow a scope).

  • HP PL4260N Measure IPM Output

Hello - I'm working on this 42" plasma with LG guts, the ysus IPM failed, it was replaced (and then tested by Tri State Module), the picture is showing signs of mal discharge -- sparkly, colors off (like skin tones will be shiny) so I'm thinking maybe the zsus is on the way out. I keep reading about measuring the output of the zsus IPM, that it should be 15V, but I can't find any reference to where this output is measured. I adjusted the z-bias, it's right where it should be (100V). Is the output where it goes into the panel? Or is there another obvious point? Thanks!
