ya, when watching it and it decides to go dead, the tv just shuts off..no sound, no picture, and the little red/blue led on the front also either goes out completely or goes to a dim red, but the backlight stays on..

It must be the backlight. There is no fault led on the boards, ive looked. This is a white light that can be seen through the holes in the shield like you said, and its on when the tv is working also.. any idea why when it goes dead the backlight stays on?Leave a comment:

2 nights in a row, i was laying in bed watching this tv and it went out. Both times i just rolled over and went to sleep instead of unplugging the tv. When i woke up the next morning, the red stand bye light was back on and i could power the tv on with the remote. SO i guess when this happens i dont have to unplug it to get the red light back unless i want it to come back on sooner than what it wants to..Like i said, its weird, when it goes dead, the red light either goes out also or at least goes real dim, but if i look in the vents in the back of...Leave a comment:

ok, i opened it up and got some pics, even though they refused to turn out good..

The caps all looked perfect no bulging at all, not in the least bit, EXCEPT for the big main cap, if you look in the pic, the end of it is bulging out but i think it may be made like that? may try to just replace the 2 caps that are commonly bad with these polaroids and see what happens. The 2 caps are cheap enough..Leave a comment:

I know, i just hate to throw it out because when its working, it works great..Hate to throw it out unless its completely dead. Its only done the squeeling 2 times in the few years ive had it. when it acts up it usually just goes dead while watching it and when it goes dead, both the red and blue lights go out with it and i have to unplug it for a while to get the red light back, then i can turn it back on. I did notice that when it goes dead, if i look in the vents in the top of the tv, there is a light on in there and it doesnt go out...Leave a comment:

ok i see what your talking about now. I will take it apart and check. Do you think buying that control assembly complete would fix the issue or is there still other parts that could be causing it? also, is that stuff at shopjimmy brand new or used?

Hello, I have a polaroid 3211-TLXB, built in may 2007. I love the tv but it has started acting up, and it is very random when it decides to act up. I can be watching it and all the sudden it shuts off, and when it does this, both the red light (standby) and blue light (on) also dissapear. When it does this, the ONLY way to get it to come back on is to unplug it for about 10 minutes and wait. Then plug it back up and the red light will be back and i can turn it on and will be fine..It may not do this again for another week, or it may do it again in 20 minutes, very random. Been doing this for a... -
