The Tcon came in. tested it with the "heatsink" jellos still in place and the image came on but solarized. I know I have to factory reset it. Carefully took it apart again. I took off that shitty jello squares on it, cleaned the chips(U602, U601, U801, U21) and the large transistor :U804 with 90 proof rubbing alcohol since the jellos gave off some type of oily residue.
q-tips and cotton balls from my medical-kit HELPED.
Took out my pack of heatsinks, artic-ice CPU thermal paste and superglue....
I can't decide on whether to get Seller: masessum to repair it and possibly last for another 5 years, the self repair kit is out of the question since I'm not that micro good or get a "NEW"? from Seller: gromm-hellscream/e-earth and up in the same hole in 5 years....
so many choices.
I unplugged it from the power, then I unplug the Tcon from the BU and plugged the power back in. it's back to no pic(weird fading white from left to right) but has audio or static audio. I removed the power then Isolated the Tcon from J1 and J2, then left J301 inserted. Same twice blinking red standby light. all arrows point to the Tcon. at least I know its under $50 on eBay.
It worked!! I put in a blade car fuse holder and 5 amp fuse, turned it on and the image is back baby!! I've put the back panel back on and it's still running.
And I just tested the Tcon board and no 12 volts coming in.
EDIT 10 minutes later:
I now have the BU out to test.
EDIT: I'm up to #37 on this thread....
Sorry to dust up this old thread but it showed up for my WGR614 V7 router. It's caps are still ok for now but I added a 12V fan and I ordered some heatsinks with thermal tape for $10 on ebay. It's noisy but the connection is stable. Until I get the heat sinks I fiddle more with it.
I have an HDTV with the same issue as c0olasian. Lit, blank screen.
Green LED on the bottom right of the transparent panel. No red solid nor blinking leds(Thank God!).
Screen reacts to the home button, channel change and there is sound, different for each channel and input. I have already memorize the menus and controls and tried the factory resets. No image, color bars or other hope... so I Googled and ended up here.
Reading thru, I noticed c0olasian never responded after going...
