  • true... except

Yeah, thats true, except another 9 bucks for shipping, plus the 12 bucks I spent on the caps I did replace, gives a total of 39 bucks, and a new board with the same features would be new and probably only 55 to 60 bucks. Maybe a new board, newer features, faster, and warranty is worth the extra 16 bucks eh?

  • Well I did the job...

Well, now that I see your post, it looks like I should replace the cheapo Teapos... I went ahead and replaced the 5 toasted Lelons. My parents use this pc for business and needed it fixed fast. My local distributor had never heard of low esr caps, so I just used what he had. I figured that these non-low esr caps HAD to be better than what was on the board. So my buddy and I replaced them with the same rating SHOEI capacitors. All of my drivers installed first time, no more reboots, and I am typing this message on the PC. I will post pics as soon as I get them...

  • Solder Braid

Have you tried the copper solder removal braid? I think that stuff works great. It soaks up the solder like a spunge. You just put the braid over the hole that still has solder in it. Then put your iron tip over the braid, and it soaks up the solder. Works for me - just my two cents.

    started a topic MSI board...

    MSI board...

Ok. I posted a quicky in the MSI forum regarding my nforce 1 board, it's a k7n420 pro. I will post pictures soon of the caps going bad on it. I am having spontaneous reboots. The Rubycon Caps on it are perfect as well as the TEAPOS. The Lelons are a MESS though. Now as I have read here, the TEAPOS and Lelons are shit, so even though the TEAPOS are ok, should I replace them too? What should I replace and with what values - I heard the 1500 uFs are hard to come by. I will call my local distributor tomorrow... I only have problems when trying to use onboard peripherals. I think the Rubycons are responsible...

  • K7n420 Pro Nforce Board v1.0

Hey all - new to the forum. I decided to fix my parents computer today... After four XP installs and attempted driver install, spontaneos reboots and bugchecks, I popped the top - low and behold. BAD CAPS. FIVE of them. I am surprised the board works at all. And this is a fairly new and recent board. I think that there will be more of these failing. I will be shopping for replacments tomorrow, I will take pics and let you know if I succeed. Thanks for the great forum!!
