Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
I believe your right bud. I have the main board plugged in with the jumper resistor to the bl_on and have back light but just blank, looks like I need to order a main board. I cant believe the main board for this sanyo is $150 + shipping used. Pretty high just for that but I guess if it gets it working....

Oh and all other voltages on the board look good. 12v ect.

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
Okay, I put the resistors I found between the 5v stby and the ps_on, and the other 5v stby on BL_on. The backlight remains on with everything else unplugged from the PSU. I guess this would mean that it is for sure the mainboard or the main IC on it.
Also I plugged the cord back into the main board with the resistor in place for the bl_on to the standby to force a backlight and I when I turn on the tv I get the back light and nothing else. In addition I get 5v on the ps_on on but .022mv on the Bl_on. So a new mainboard I...Last edited by coreyand; 09-22-2015, 07:35 PM.

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
I can force the backlight on by putting a jumper wire from the 5v stby to the bl_on, however the backlight only stays on second or 2 if that. And yes all cables connected.Last edited by coreyand; 09-22-2015, 07:11 PM.

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
Wait 9.75k ohms would be nearly 10,000 ohms wouldnt it. Ill see if I can find a better substitute.

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
Understood, I found a few resistors on an old amplifier board I have been robbing parts from for a while, the two I found read 9.75k ohms. That should work, give me a minute to de-solder them from the board and put them in those places on the psu of the sanyo.

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
Is there anything I can use in place of the 1k resistor? I have none on hand at the moment. I dont think, I might need to do some digging. Isnt the color pattern on that brown, black, red, yellow?

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
I have the same model tv with the same issue only I dont think I have any problems with my power supply/inverter board. When I shine a flashlight on the screen I get nothing but when I jump a wire from the 5vstb to the BL_On the backlight on the screen comes on for about a second or 2 then goes back off.
All voltages from the power supply look good and in their respective ranges. I suspect something is wrong with the main board. Doesnt the 3v for the BL_On come from the main board? Also when I jump that wire from the standby...

Re: Vizio 390-A1
RJ can you please explain the flashing and programming of the chip, I have the same tv with the same problem and would like to fix it if this is the solution.
However I need to know how, and what chip to reprogram, and obviously the software to reprogram it and the file or firmware it needs to have flashed onto it. Please explain.
Thanks, Corey.

Re: Toshiba 42hp83 Black pixels after it warms up, plasmsa is old?
Was hoping for some feed back. I took the back off of the tv and didnt experience any pixelation, put the back, back on the tv and noticed pixelation after approx. 20 minutes. So I am thinking heat or proper ventilation is an issue. Please anybody correct me if I am wrong in thinking this.
Thanks, Corey.

Toshiba 42hp83 Black pixels after it warms up, plasmsa is old?
Ive got a old Toshiba 42hp83, when you first turn it on the picture looks great. After about 20 minutes or so it starts to "pixelate" There will partial black pictures where an object was on the screen previously but goes away when the picture or scene in the movie changes.
Before I tore this tv apart to start testing I was curious if any one knows if perhaps the lifespan of the plasma in the tv has reached its end. Ive never seen a plasma wear out before or come across it.
If you turn the tv off and then back on real quick it seems to correct itself for...

Re: Toshiba 42hp83 Plasma TV Picture starts normally then pixelates to black screen
Im having some issues with this tv also. Boot up the picture is beautiful. After it warms up I guess there will be little black pixels where something was but they go away when the picture changes. Is it just getting old and the plasma life span has run out?

Re: Samsung LN52A550 Tab bond faulure or bad screen?
That stinks. The side with the vertical lines I cant get hardly anything to change with that, and the other side I can get to clear up but only about 2/3 of the half of the screen. Thinking it was a tcon I replaced it with the same result. Im calling it on this one guys, a bad panel I suppose.

Samsung LN52A550 Tab bond faulure or bad screen?
I got this 52" from a guy down the road, the screen was not this bad off until I started messing with the tab bondings. If I hold some of them with only 2 hands and some ample pressure I can nearly get half of the screen back. I have an exact match TCON board for this tv(im not 100% if its good or not) but when I install the TCON into the tv I get the same picture so that leads me to believe that it is most likely the screen.
My question is, is this screen too far gone with bad tab bonds or could it possibly be repaired by a method like budm here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25371&highlight=budm+52+samsung...
