So, I have some more questions. It seems one of the ccfl tubes is bad. A dark stripe shows on the screen but most of the time is not noticeable. It looks like the tube is powered by the transformer that was making all the noise before. I'm wondering if the bad tube could have caused a problem with the transformer, which doesn't seem likely to me, or if the transformer could have blown the tube, which seems more likely. Is it easy to find these tubes and where would I find them? Is it easy to replace a tube? Thanks.

Well, I ordered the redesigned inverter from China. I took exactly one month to arrive. Ordered it June 3 and got it July 3. So far it is working good. The tcon plug was not a perfect fit but it does plug in. The other plug fit perfect. It's really nice to have the tv working again and going through the troubleshooting process in this thread really helped. Thanks again!Leave a comment:

Voltage on heatsink
I have this old receiver with an atsc tuner that I am using for OTA channels. It's always been a bit finicky. I was checking out the power supply and accidentally touched a heatsink that has a rectifier or something attached, and I got zapped. I checked with a meter and the heatsink has 117vac on it. Could this be normal or is it weird? -

I usually have to press power more that once to get the tv to power on after it has been off for a long time, but once it powers on the back lights come on and then shut down. I'm leaning towards ordering an inverter board from China, 30 bucks with free shipping and is supposed take up to 15 days. It's not a Samsung board but is marketed as a direct fit replacement.
What do you think about these boards?

EX-DIM and DIM are both around 2.90v.
pins 6-10 = 0.00v

Sorry, sometimes pin 11 goes to 0.52. I don't understand why the readings vary.

DCV Range is 0.00
pin 11 = 0.07 v
pin 12 = 4.09 v

My meter has 2 m ohms ranges, .00 or 0.0.

I'm not sure I'm testing right, I get a bunch of different readings and they fluctuate. I understand these are dual mosfets with 4 drains and 2 sources with 2 drains per source, so when testing do I put the red lead to drain or source?Leave a comment:
