Re: Suggestions for desoldering braid.
Doesn't have to be fancy. This is the one I use:
http://www.parts-express.com/sterling-7420-static-free-desoldering-pump-solder-sucker--370-255
It was available at my local store also. It works well for those stubborn through holes that wont come clean and if memory serves it was only ~$15Re: Suggestions for desoldering brai...-370-255...

Re: Suggestions for desoldering braid.
My local electronics store deals in NTE parts and that's the braid I use simply because I like to support them. Works very well and I never felt the need to go elsewhere.

Re: PS4 CUH-1215 Blu-Ray worm gear not moving
Flex cable checked out so upon starting to tear down the console I found the only spot the liquid found a board. One of the through traces was eaten away. Cleaned it up and stuck a couple strands of wire through with a couple dabs of solder to re-establish the connection. Works like a champ....

PS4 CUH-1215 Blu-Ray worm gear not moving
I know we don't have a huge game system repair crowd here but figured I'd post to see if anyone encountered this yet. Will post photos and repair if I get that far with it.
CUH-1215 came in today "not reading discs". Warranty labels still intact so nobody messed with it previously. Upon opening I noticed some red juice type liquid residue inside. Not a lot, and I've seen a lot of water damage in my day. Most looks like it stayed on the plastic and nothing on the board (though I have not torn it down completely yet). I don't think the liquid is the culprit, but it is a...

Re: ps4 wont accept disk
Without having it in front of me, problem lies in the controller chip I believe (and possibly elsewhere). Order yourself a replacement "compatible" board online (BDP-xxx)and it should pull in and eject the disc. It will not read the disc however until the paired IC would be swapped which will need to be done by someone capable of swapping without damaging the chip. To my knowledge the have not yet found a way to pair a different board so if that chip gets damaged it will not play any games.

Re: Replacing BGA components with hot air.
I purchased a step up converter like below and ran 12-2 from my panel. Until you purchase your supplies to run from your dryer you'll have about the same invested anyway and you won't have the wife yelling she can't use the dryer because you are playing with your machine
http://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VC3000W
The $680 new one is the newer model because it does use the K-type thermocouple and it is located in the front. There are 2 thermocouples on the machine, one for bottom heat and one for...

Re: Funai lf501em4f chirping psu. no power on
I'm dealing with one of these now with the same problem. I have marked where the noise is coming from on my unit in his photo. I haven't had the opportunity to check too much of it out yet. Seems what is marked AMP+13v only receives 6.5v and the P-on+21v only receives 11.3v on this supply. This is with nothing else connected to the power supply. I can take better photos tomorrow if needed....

Re: Replacing BGA components with hot air.
I opted for the ACHI IR PRO SC and have no regrets.
I would say anything you are going to swap is easy to find preballed (and anything sold as new is balled). The majority of the systems I have encountered only needed reballed, though recently I have been coming across more failed ICs. I'm not certain if it is simply these are getting to the age they are failing or too many systems have had attempted repairs with a heatgun or baking in the oven. There are some laptops I will always replace the GPU rather than reball,...

Re: Replacing BGA components with hot air.
OP: If you are only wanting to repair 1 PS3 your best option would be to send it out to someone who can repair it safely. If you are looking to get into reballing I would suggest buying the proper rework equipment. It is expensive to get into, but the equipment will definitely pay for itself over time. The more you can reball the faster it will be worth while.
I invested over 2K years ago and had made that back within a few months (although that was back in the day PS3s brought more....) and that was only working PS3s and 360s....

Re: Extending wifi
Sadly this sounds like my place except there are a few more playing games/ Youtube /Netflix all at the same time.
Try setting up QoS (Quality of Service).Re: Extending wifi

Re: Sceptre X322BV-HD*WXC100 no picture and no sound
Sorry, the power supply I have is totally different than your model or I would help out.
I have a X322BV-HD*WXC100 for repair with the exact same symptoms as OP. It has the exact mainboard also - T.RSC8.10B 12305.
I believe the problem is a BGA issue under the outlined IC. Applying pressure on it with the butt end of a screwdriver and powering the TV on provided picture (and more than likely sound but the speakers are mounted to the rear panel and were disconnected). This would also...

Re: BGA non direct stencil help
It's hard to tell in the pic but I don't see any flux squishing though the holes so that's a good sign. If there is anything preventing the balls from falling onto the chip it would be easily seen by holding the stencil up to the light.
The only other thing that comes to mind would be if the balls themselves have flux on them from previous attempts. I never put solder balls back into the container they came from because any slight residue of flux would make them stick together or stick on the stencil....

Re: BGA non direct stencil help
Not sure how much flux you are using but a thin layer is key. If you have thick flux it will touch the stencil even with the jig set correctly.
Cleaning the flux from the holes can be a bit challenging but what worked best for me was alcohol based because it evaporates slower. Use a pin to gently poke any residue from the holes.

Finally received my ICs and have one installed to a clear picture again. Certainly starting a trend for faulty AS19s also

A lot of times that connector is not damaged and simply needs resoldered.

Digital camera parts supplier?
Wondering if anyone has a good one. I have a Coolpix L810 here to repair with the "Turn off and remove lens cap" error but I'm unable to find any parts that are not used. I would much rather install new parts as it is a common failure.

Re: swaped hhd with win7
Also, the OS will not stop functioning. Some features will be disabled though like desktop background and other things that don't necessarily prevent the OS from working.

Re: swaped hhd with win7
If you are not using the previous computer you took the HDD from just enter the key on the COA sticker. If it tells you it cannot be activated use the automated phone system(pretty easy).
In most cases the key on the COA has never been used. Manufacturers use their own key when they load the HDD. Try running Belarc Advisor on an OEM system and compare the key listed to the one on the COA.Re: swaped hhd with win7
If you are not using the previous computer you took the HDD
