On my very first electronics course, on the first day, we were told that the worst thing you could do to anything electronic was turn it on (!) Next worst thing was to turn it off..
Now I appreciate that this course I attended also covered glass tubes/valves, so was a while ago,
but I still reckon this holds true. Don't shock anything too much by unnecessary turning on and off..
