Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - 7 seconds to black
Mega Necro Bump here.
So I think I have an idea what the 2 pin connector does.
Its a pair of op-amps that outputs a 2.4mV signal to the T-CON board. Its either an enable signal, an on signal, a status signal, who knows. Because it goes into the 60 pin TTL connector at the top, the 256 pin undocumented chip and all over that board.
My SPICE simulations show that its 2.4mV un-connected, but 550nV when connected to the T-CON.
Does anyone have a working monitor that they can test...

Re: Dell 2407WFPB bad inverter xformer Part 1
Apologizing for the necro bump, but I've found that Pin 3 (the green wire) on CN702 is the brightness control line. It appears to go from 0v to whatever the reference voltage on Pin 1 (blue) is.
Further investigation shows that the 20 pin soic package is an analog to pwm brightness controller.
(Datasheet here: http://pdf.datasheetbank.com/datasheet-download/546113/0/O2Micro/0Z964S)
Pin 3 on that chip seems to be related to the presence of voltage on pin 1, and pin 14 seems to be related to...

Re: Dell 2709w No power
What is the issue with the power board? You may be able to just recap it.

2405FPW 2407WFPb 2407WFP Preventative measures
So I have 5 of a mix of these displays.
All 5 of them work flawlessly.
I've heard horror stories of them dying due to capacitor plague.
I know most problems occur on the power supply board, so I'm already planning on replacing the caps on that board.
My question is, should I just go ahead and replace the caps on the USB io board, mainboard, and lamp board as well?
The caps on those boards seem to be Lelon and Elite.
EDIT: There also appear to be some FDAI/FOAI caps as well
What do you think?Last edited by zombielinux; 12-13-2014, 08:25 AM. Reason: Discovered different manufacturer on board.

Re: Dell 2709w No power
I know I'm a newcomer, but I do have a request.
Has anyone decoded the I2C lines and controls for the monitor?
I have 4 of these that will be in a location where the bezels are not accessible. I'd like to write some code for an arduino or some other micro to control the monitor externally, but I don't have a scope that does I2C capture.
The way I see it, there could be two different command sets.
1) Where the buttons are hard mapped and the mainboard only receives 5 different commands (one per...
