• Re: Clayton 19" LCD TV - Dead PSU

Diah From what was said to me, the tv hit the ground while on, well by the way some of the tracks of the IC800 were ripped off, something did hit the heatsink of this components and when the pins touched each other caused the S/C, the problem will be to know which component to choose since some of the components don't match the schematic. i'll have to try and see what happens...

dick_barton I'll do that and try to place a diode on D following what Diah suggested.

Another thing i don't understand why...

With the meter probes directly to the pins 2 & 4 of the transformer (TR801) i get 0v AC.

dick_barton I've checked D804 and it's good but it's not a 22v zener diode, the marking is WP, which stands for BZT52C27 a 27v 500 mW zener diode. Another thing, C807 it's not a 22uF 50v electrolytic capacitor the one onboard is a 33uF 50v. They've changed some components in this revision.

Diah That must be like that, some of the components onboard don't match the ones on the schematic.

Thank you! =)Re: Clayton 19" LCD TV - Dead PSU

• Re: Sony Vaio VGN-N31M - No Post/Half Dead

Hello again,

I've attached some photos of the board and the schematic.
I've found that the PU7 was getting very hot when i turn on the board. I attached photos of the PU7 and PQ21 zones.

Here are the measures i made with the board ON:
PQ21 pins:
1- 0,11v
2- GND
3- GND
4- 0,015v
5- 0,09v
6- 0,09v
7- 0,09v
8- 19,6v

PU7 pins: (this one is hot with board ON)
1- 3,26v (IN)
2- GND
3- 3,3v...

On pin 6 of the TR801 the one connected to R898 (by the schematic) i have 0v AC or DC there is no voltage on that pin, this could be the reason.
Between pin 6 and pin 5 of TR801 i have 0,55 ohms

Thank you!

This is the right pin count:

1- 320v
2- Cut off
3- 0v
4- 10v to 12v (variable/Vcc)
5- GND
6- 4v to 6v (variable)
7- 6v to 7v (variable)

dick_barton I've checked those components and they are good, in other hand i found in the vcc circuit that in place o R898 there is a jumper and in the R575 there is a 10 ohms resistor. By the schematic there should be two 15 ohms resistors. I'm going to post some photos of the primary circuit later today.
Thank you!...

• Sony Vaio VGN-N31M - No Post/Half Dead

Hello friends,

Motherboard: MBX-160 Rev. 1.0

I press the button and the green light turns on but nothing happens and it stays like that forever. If i press the button for 10s or more it doesn't turn off, i need to unplug to turn it off.
When it's on i can hear a low whistle but i didn't found the source.

When visual inspecting the board i found the PQ21 (IRF7904PBF) completly burned out and replaced it but no change on the problem.

I've been using this schematic:

• Re: Clayton 19" LCD TV - Dead PSU

Hello dick_barton,
The resistor is a 0,47 ohms i've checked by the color code, that's a diferent version of the board.
Here are the readings of the IC800 (STRW6253):

7- 320v
6- 0v
5- 10v to 12v (variable)
4- GND
3- 4v to 6v (variable)
2- Cutoff
1- 6v to 7v (variable)

Hope these readings can help.
I've checked all the diodes and they are good.
I'll check the capacitors.
Thank you.

Hello again,

I think it might be the TR801 or the optocoupler IC801, if anyone could show me the way.
Thank you.

• Clayton 19" LCD TV - Dead PSU

Hello friends,

TV Brand: Clayton
TV Model:19DVDLC10M4TDT
PSU Model: 17IPS15-4 v3

The PSU had a S/C caused by the IC800 (STR W6253), it burned also the diode bridge (D800/1/2/3), radial fuse (F800) and the 0,47R resistor (R846).
I've replaced all these components and still i have no voltages on the secondary side, on the primary side there are voltages, need some guidance to know if they are right or what could be wrong.

I use this schematic:

highpulse, i have a Toshiba C660-1LX with the same problem, no display on LED screen but the LED backlight is on. On external screen everything is OK.
Motherboard: LA-6841P rev. 1.0

Here are some of the voltages on JLVDS conector:
Pin - Voltage
1 3,2v
10 3,2v
12 3,2v
20 3,2v
22 3,2v

Motherboard: JM31-CP
Revision: 09921-3

Hello everyone!
This laptop is completly dead, no lights and not charging.
I've already checked the fuses, since there are 5 in this board and all are OK.
So i started to check the DCIN line (see page 49), but when i get to the U1 mosfet, this one is missing from the board and it generates the AD+ voltage.
I double checked the revision and model of the motherboard and it's the same of the diagram.
Voltages from DCIN are only present in

• Re: Acer Aspire 5732z - No backlight on LED panel!

No, now there are only the adaptor and the LED panel, the inverter was replaced by the adaptor. This adaptor only changes the connection from the motherboard to the LED panel, and it doesn't convert anything, it only redirects two voltages of 3,2v and two voltages of 19,2v to the LED panel.
The brightness now has two possible positions, one in full bright and another one at half bright, changing by keystroke Fn+cursor key.
The problem of no backlight was in the adaptor pcb, the 19,2v voltages were not reaching the...

Problem solved, the issue was in the adaptor pcb, the one that replaces the inverter, one of the paths was open, the one that takes the 19,2v to the LED panel, i made a shunt with a wire and it's working now. Still it doesn't control the brightness.

• Acer Aspire 5732z - No backlight on LED panel!

Hello everyone,

When this laptop was bought it came with an LCD panel with inverter, it worked for about 2 years until the backlight burned out.
Then it was replaced with an LED panel (with an adaptor replacing the inverter).
At the time this change was made i couldn't control the brightness, this was the only problem, it worked fine like this for couple of months
Now there is no backlight.

Here is the motherboard diagram:
