• Re: Samsung pn43d450a2dxza firmware update

I tried the Samsung tech support but they say there is no update for this TV. Maybe there was an issue with the update and it got taken down. I will just hope the TV works a few more years then I will get another one when the boards fail again.

I downloaded the update mentioned and the TV does not recognize it. I downloaded the file form the link above and unzipped it to USB. On the USB I get 2 folders T-MST4DEUC and T-MSV4DEUC. When I stick the USB in the TV does not find an upgrade.

I also found an old You Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnOtcjs3snU) that shows how to download a firmware upgrade from the Samsung site. But that does not work either since the Samsung site has changed and the firmware upgrade is no longer available. Is the firmware...

  • Re: PN43D450A2DXZA has no Video

I added a picture of the crack. Sorry for the quality but cell phone cameras are pretty lame, but it shows the hole with cracks propagating out from it. The cracks are about 0.5 - 0.75 inches long.. It is bigger than I thought, it must of the cracks must have propagated as I moved the TV from my vacation house.

I will still check the boards for shorts since I have an identical model of this television and can use the boards if they fail. I will toss the chassis and screen....

Thanks for the replies I will check the Y buffer board as mentioned. That looks like a fairly simple task. There is one small hole in the screen but no cracks. It looks like a the type of hole you get on your windshield when a small rock hits it. Can that be the cause of the short?

  • PN43D450A2DXZA has no Video

I have a Samsung PN43D450A2DXZA TV which has no video output. Audio works fine. Reading a similar post on this forum https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=37000 it seems the X and Y main boards are likely the culprits.

I opened the TV and first measured the Vs and Va voltages. They briefly came up to their correct values then decayed to 0V. Next I removed both the X-main and Y-main boards and measured for shorts across all transistors. I did not find any shorts.

    I next took a gamble...

  • Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D No Video

I have the exact same problem identified in this thread and the technical information here is immensely helpful. Reading thru the thread I think either my X-main or Y-main board is probably bad.I removed both the X-main and Y-main boards and ohmed out all the FETs and none are shorted. None of the capacitors are obviously blown up. There are no other burn or char marks on the board either. I did not try the power up voltage test. Are there any other troubleshooting tests I can do to determine whether it is the Y-main or X-main board?
