I figured it out. Press and hold Volume +, Channel +, then press power with the buttons on the tv set. Whew.

I would start with looking at the power supply caps for bulges. Also take a look at the inverter transformers for melted spots on them and discolored board below the transformer. I've run into both issues...Leave a comment:

It automatically comes on in retail mode and will not accept menu commands. This is one that's been lying around the shop for some time and I have no manual

Vizio E371VL Fixed!
I was working on this TV and found the problem after replacing the EEPROM.
Symptoms were would turn on and display dim vizio symbol on the screen. The vizio label would change from amber to white and it would stay running. No display after the initial one on the screen went dark. No menu, sound or picture. Found shorted diode on power supply location D602. Part was labled
MUR460ax. -
