Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Perfect Agent24.
Thanks again.
I should have mentioned that the resistor sitting was only to show you. I will definitely be cutting it so it is not that long It was more me being lazy just to show you the general idea.
I think I understand the instructions now and thanks for clarifying. I will be purchasing the parts hopefully Monday.
I will report back once (hopefully) I make progress.
Thanks again and have a great weekend.

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Thanks Agent24 and all of you once again.
So I want to make sure I am doing this correctly and that I understand all the instructions. First off, please have a look at the pic(s) attached whereby I scraped the solder mask off (img_3231) and whereby I would be connecting the resistor to (img_3232). I want to make this is right before I solder.
Secondly, from the 2 pics (img_3231 and img_3232) please let me know if the board looks clean enough now (cleaned it with iso propinol and tried to remove excess...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Thanks again.
So what are you suggesting after I clean the iron. Do I proceed to buy/add the new resistors that I removed and try and solder again?
The whole that is missing the copper/steel ring, how will the solder bond to it?
Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to see what happens after the iron is cleaned?
Thanks again Agent 24.

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Agent24,
Trust me I have stopped and yes I do know what is going on and what I have done. This was all a result of the last week when I tried to solder without having any experience or looking at the links that you all have graciously sent.
So yes, I am aware as to what I did and the things you mention such "too much pressure, too much heat, or holding the iron on too long" is definitely what I was doing before.
Now my concern is really with 2 of the wholes, one where the grey...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Everyone,
I think I am SOL. Pieces are falling off the board and not sure if it is repairable anylonger (or if I could repair it). What turned into excitement a week ago has now turned into disappointment
Have a look at the remaining pictures where I removed the 3 resistors. The lifting on the board plus the falling off of the copper. Let me know if it is beyond repair.
If it is, I want to thank you all who took the time and effort. I have learned alot and what not to do. I think my soldering...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Thanks again everyone for the info and the links.
Agent 24 you may are right about the lifted pad (if I think I understand what that means). I tried to hold it down with extra solder but don't think it did a good job.
What I will do is remove all solder, clean it up a bit and post some picture of the board all cleaned up and then maybe you can clearly see the lift and advise.
Re-atari, any ideas on how to remove this clean (or the easiest way)?
Lumberjack, yes some solder,...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Ok thanks again everyone.
So i disassembled the monitor and have attached some pictures. Hopefully they are clear enough to make something of it.
I do not have a multimeter yet, but I could get one if need be. I just figured with the cost of the parts, I would go ahead and change them.
I did not change the fuses nor did I change the remaining capacitors that people say potentially could cause issues (cm862 & cm 863).
As for the fuses, do they have to be ceramic? I couldn't...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Thx again every.
Let me open it up, take the power board off again grrr, take some pics of the soldering job (again please don't laugh as I have never done this before but feel I put enough solder to hold everything) and I will check my fuses.
However, to be honest I feel something else could potentially be causing the resistors or capacitors to go bad, shorting them) however what do I know.
Let me get that stuff out to you and hopefully you can come up with something.
Thanks...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Sorry to let everyone know but a week later and I am back to sqaure 1. The monitor does not turn on, no blue power light and no picture (as was posted originally). I am suspecting that the resistors and capacitors may have been fine and there is something else wrong with it however, why would it turn on after changing those parts. I did not hear any bang so I don't think anything is fried.
If anyone else has any other ideas I should try (1 last attempt) before I scrap it. It's just unfortunate cause it looked like the...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Thanks Lumberjack,
Damn I didn't know I could use scissors
Well, when I say I left some, I mean like a very small amount and I pushed them to the side with pliers. So they are facing outward, away from the solder.
Man I guess to be safe I will need to open this monitor up again. (obviously to which I don't want to do).
Thanks again!!

Lumberjack and R_J,
I am most happy today. I just had a look at the cables (before you both even posted) and you both are dead on. I missed the LVD cable
You guys/gals have helped me out tremendously. After all said and done, total cost was 13 bucks ($8 for Desolder gun (didn't really need this though) and $5 dollars for resistors and capacitors for a total of 13 bucks
I am more then thankful for your patience in all this!! However, before I close this thread may I please ask...

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Hi Reaper,
Thanks so much for reaching out. So perfect timing. I got all the parts (3 - 68 Ohm 2W resistors, 2 - 1000 uf 16 V 10X24 capacitors ) solder/desoldered the parts on the board but when I turn it on, all I get is a white screen. The blue light on the power button however is working now.
Note: I did test some of the resistors, capacitors and fuses however, since I wasn't sure if I tested them correctly, I decided to change everything since I got the parts for cheap.

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
Yes,
I do have a board like that. Here is a newbie question, but which ones are the fuses? And do I have to remove them from the board(like I have been told for the resistors) or can I test them on the board? If you could somehow show me how to check them with the voitmeter that would be awesome.
Sorry for the simple questions. I really hope its not the fuses on that board or this fix might be more difficult then I can handle
Thanks again R_J

Re: Need help with what to do.. guide me please
R_J,
You lost me on the inverter Not exactly sure what you mean on the left or what I am looking for. Do you happen to have a picture.
As for led on the front, no it doesn't light up (blue) when I press the power button.
My problem with the monitor is I don't see any picture (black screen) nor does the power button light up (no blue around power button).
Is there a way to check the fuses. Not sure why they are white but if that is just paper can I remove it to see if the...
