• Packard Bell Maestro 191W: 3 badcaps replaced on power board, works fine

Disassembly: very easy when you are aware of step 3!

1. Remove stand using the only big screw
2. Remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the monitor
3. Slide the bezel upwards by ~1cm to release it (don't force!) then gently pull away
4. Gently pull the panel and disconnect the panel signal ribbon
5. Disconnect the inverter cables and take the panel away
6. Gently pull the EMC adhesive tape
7. Remove all screws to open box
8. Power board is connected to the signal board via a small mezzanine connector: gently disconnect it...

• Re: LG L1717 Monitor cap failure

Just a quick message to say that LG L1919S is the same kind of construction as the 1717. Toughest part of the job is removing the bezel, it's very hard to pull off, don't hesitate to pull hard. I broke some of the clips with no impact on remounting.

I just changed one cap: 1000uF 16V. The replacement one I found has same length but much bigger diameter, just enough room for it coming in contact with a nearby heatsink. It works fine now.
