  • Re: Samsung UN55H6203 - Power Supply BN44-00774A

Good news - I am back up and running. Replacing the LED strips did the trick for me!

I decided to order my replacement Samsung BN96-39055A/BN96-39056A Replacement LED Backlight Strips (10) from ShopJimmy via Amazon (sorry SJ, but why is it shipping free on Amazon, but not your own site? I'd prefer to order direct from you!).

I also purchased an LED test tool for this fix. It was really nice to see first on a strip-by-strip basis, what LED's had a problem.

As mentioned by a different person,...

Did you ever figure out what was up with your TV? I have all the EXACT same symptoms.

I can solder but the waiting game and shipping for parts tends to lead me to replacing full boards. In this case, I can't tell if the Power Supply is bad, or it is just the LED strips. LED Tester will be here in 3 days, but I wonder if I should buy a power supply too.

What is really throwing me off is why am I getting fluctuating volatages of 290v-320v on M1+ when turned on, nothing on M2, M3, M4 or M5. And M1+ is steady...

  • Re: Xbox One Power Supply - Orange Light & the dies when console is plugged in

Well - the Mouse box showed up with the following:
    25v 67 uF
    50v 48 uF

I put them in the PCB - exact same result.

I threw the whole thing in the garbage - at this point I’ve got more in parts (actually shipping) than the replacement on Amazon cost me.

Thanks again for the help though!

I removed the other caps you were referencing
    C551: 25v 68 uF (Taicon)
    C400: 50v 48 uF (Ltec)

I’ll go order these, and maybe the ones I already replaced since you said my new ones suck worse than the original ones! I’ll post an update when the new caps arrive.

I’m actually doing this mostly for my notes..

The original caps were (3) JACKCON LHK Series & (1) Samxon. Pic attached.

The remaining “suspect” caps are so tightly grouped on the PCB that I can't read the ratings. Tomorrow I’ll desolder, order, install & reply back on results.

Thank you very much for the input!...

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

I continued to have the problems even after I took the back off.

I haven't had it plugged in for months, but for the fun of it, I'll fire it up & watch Netflix on it. My issues seem to be related to using HDMI inputs, because the TV would randomly shut off only if I was using HDMI. I went months watching OTA.

Thanks for the reply! It's been months since I've posted about this!

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

When I say intermittent, I mean the TV has worked for days, or even weeks, but then will not power on. Once "out", it stays out, until I give up on it for a few weeks/months. That's why I say intermittent. At this point it is not working - Upon power-up (with remote), I hear a click and the power light goes on. The backlights do not turn on (even after waiting 10 sec), which is normal when it is working properly.

I saw several posts about disconnecting CN303 - when I do that, the...

No I did not take any readings; I'm not sure where to start.

I've read a lot of different posts on this forum about this TV. It doesn't seem like anyone has ever got it working - at least not a fix that anyone has posted.
By the way, I disconnected CN303 and my backlights lit up, with a black screen (I mention the black screen, because I've read about color patterns, red screens, and blue screens)

  • Re: sony kdl46s4100

Has anyone ever fixed one of these TV's? I've got a separate thread going about the same TV (KDL-46S4100), but this post has by far the best information (unfortunately, same result - no fix posted; I'm assuming a fix was never found).

Wouldn't it be great to find that 1 capacitor (or whatever) that is causing all of these problems?

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

The used power supply from eBay did not solve the problem.

The TV ran for about 30 hours, and then today exhibited the same symptions; hear a click of the power going on in the TV (after pressing the remote 'on' button), but the screen won't turn on. Same as before.

I guess based on the feedback here, I should attempt to replace the TCon board? Any other thoughts? Is there some troubleshooting I should do first, to help narrow down the issue. As a reminder, I already swapped the Main Board,...

Thanks augiedoggy for the feedback. I already replaced the Main Board and I experienced the same issue after about a week of usage.

I just purchased a replacement power supply board off of eBay (they have an acceptable return policy) I'll let you know if that helps.

Thanks again for the feedback and keeping the post active - Tim

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

I've looked at the book, but unfortunately I am not technical enough to read the schematics and know what to probe (not to mention the problem is intermittent).

I'm usually very good about finding "the thing" that fixes these kind of issues by scouring the BADCAPS.net forum, as well as asking Senor Google. Other than a fairly common them about lines on the screen & the TCON board (I'm not having this issue), no one seems to have gotten to the bottom of this issue.

    Any ideas on...

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

This TV has been sitting around waiting to be fixed or junked; it's already difficult for me to just give up on it... Now to find out it would cost ~$25+ to dispose of it - no way!

As I mentioned in the previous post, I purchased the Main Board off of eBay and the exact same symptoms occurred - it worked for a week or so, then shut off - after trying multiple times, it will come back on, but only stay on for a few minutes.

It is screaming BADCAPS somewhere, right? Since I replaced the Main Board...

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

**Update** - I applied firmware update V1.115 and now it is worse. Before when it would "freeze" (no sound, no pic) I could press the channel +/- a few times and at least watch OTA TV programming. Now I seem to be stuck in one of the HDMI inputs, with no way out.

    Any thoughts?
I'm about to give up on this TV, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Re: KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

Sorry for the long delay - great summer with the kids.

    Original Problem:
TV turns on, and suddenly goes blank, no sound. No indication of it being the backlight failing (did the flashlight test). Power light stays on and is green.

I purchased a "Sony 46 KDL-46S4100 1-857-092-21 55.71H01.411G 55.71H01.411 V.2 Main Video Board" off of eBay. It worked for almost a week straight, and then failed with the exact same symptoms. I put my original board back in, and suddenly IT worked....

  • KDL-46S4100 - Intermittent Black Screen & No Sound

I picked up a Sony KDL-46S4100; original owner was selling because it would intermittently shut off. It had been sitting in her basement unplugged for about 3 months until today.

When I got it home, I watched TV for about 90 minutes with no issues, until it happened to me. During that time, the picture was crystal clear.

Now, it may turn on every 7-8 times of turning on, and it doesn't stay on for long. The power light is green, and stays on regardless of whether or not the TV displays a picture. The power light does not flash (any codes). I hear the 'click' of the...

  • Re: Toshiba 46L5200U Backlight Connector Cable

Thanks you guys for pointing out that one should be able to fix this, without purchasing a new cable!

I tore apart some broken earbuds for the super thin wires and fired up my solder iron, to rebuild the wire harness/connector that I broke when replacing the backlight on the Toshiba 46L5200U.

Thanks again for this awesome website!

    SUCCESS!

I tore apart some broken earbuds for the super thin wires and fired up my solder iron, to rebuild the wire harness/connector that I broke when replacing the backlight.

With the new backlight installed, the TV is no longer flickering & dying.

Thanks everyone for your help with the repair, and the great information!

  • Toshiba 46L5200U Backlight Connector Cable

Any ideas where I can pick-up a Toshiba 46L5200U Backlight Connector Cable.

In the process of replacing the original backlight, I got a little too rough on removing the connector cable.

Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated!
