• Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power

I've got a dead 2408WFPb as well. F701 (5A fuse) on the output of the power supply board is open. I've got 23.8vdc on the supply side of F701. I found Q15 (J598) shorted on the board connected to the CN701 connector of the power supply board. I have replacement parts ordered. Bicycle's schematic was helpful. Thanks Bicycle!

• Re: Dell 2407WFPb Monitor - Bad Cap

IC651 should be oriented with pin 1 down and to the left by the black dot on the board. Pin 1, where the indention is on the encapsulant, should be toward capacitor C621 just below it in the orientation you took the photo in.

• Re: Dell 2407WFPb Monitor - Bad Cap

I've got a Dell 24" monitor that has burnt surface mount components. One is a transistor (Q654). The part has the following markings: "ZA 49". I can't find any information on that part number. Does anyone know where I can find a cross for it? The second burnt component is IC651. I can't read anything on IC651 but I found the part number through another BadCaps thread. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=178133 The 120uf 400V capacitor is also bad. Any information on Q654 would be greatly appreciated. Tha...

• Re: Dell 2407WFPb shuts off after 90 minutes

Update. I was able to get all of the replacement capacitors through Mouser.com. Ended up using a 420v 120uf capacitor to replace the 450v 120uf capacitor on the power supply board. I replaced all of the capacitors on just the power supply board to start with and so far both monitors have run for 24 hours without shutting off. If this holds up the fix will have consisted of: one 420v 120uf cap, five 35v 470uf caps, one 25v 220uf cap, two 50v 47uf caps, and one 100v 1uf cap.

Mouser part numbers:
120uf 450v ---->...

• Dell 2407WFPb shuts off after 90 minutes

I have two Dell 2407WFPb monitors that shut off after 90 minutes or so and need to be unplugged and plugged back in to restart. Both monitors will run all day with the back cover off for troubleshooting. I've read through the threads on repairing these monitors when they completely die. I'm hoping to correct the problem before there is the typical catastrophic component failure when the 120uf 450v capacitor fails.
I've pulled most of the electrolytic caps and tested them with an ESR meter and most look to be well within spec. I've ordered replacement capacitors to completely recap all...

• Re: ASRock Dual Sata II repair help needed

I had already reseated the CPU. I actually tested it in another system to verify it was still good. I tried new RAM, tried to start it with just the CPU, RAM, and a video card. I pulled the battery and reset the bios as you suggested. Still no luck.

• Re: ASRock Dual Sata II repair help needed

I went through and pulled all of the caps up in the CPU and RAM areas. They all tested ok but I went ahead and changed them anyway. I still have the same results. CPU fan turns on, nothing else, no post, no beeps, I've ordered a port 80 card which I will test with once it arrives. Thanks.

• ASRock Dual Sata II repair help needed

I built eight computers in 2006 with ASRock Dual Sata II motherboards that have run flawlessly until now. I've had two motherboards die in the past month with the same condition. When I try to power them up the CPU fan comes on but nothing else, no hard drives, no floppy or CD drives, no video, no post attempt. I've replaced caps in hundreds of Dell and Asus motherboards over the years and these two boards' caps appear to be ok.
I have a Bob Parker Blue ESR meter that I've spot checked a number of the capacitors with. Does anyone have any experience with this particular motherboard? I've...

• Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

I currently work as a maintenance technician in the Phoenix Arizona region. I wear a number of "hats" doing everything from building computers that control analytical test equipment to electronic repair of said test equipment, to machining fixtures and parts when necessary. Currently I have eight pieces of test equipment that require an AGP motherboard due to an AGP Matrox Orion video card necessary for image overlay operations. I built the computers in 2006 with ASRock Dual Sata II motherboards that have run flawlessly...
