Re: no monitor output with power hungry mobo?
could be crossloading because there are only 3 coils but adding/removing devices does not make a difference and as mentioned, before everything worked fine.Main caps being electrolitic in case they are half dead should stop not start making problems once they get warm which leaves perhaps half dead one of secondary elements byq28e or lt807s whichever is on a 12v rail because it goes to agp graphics?...

Re: no monitor output with power hungry mobo?
ps is Orion 250w and it worked ok before with now problematic mobo
but not any more although I guess new Jamicons have lower esr and higher capacitance than the old ones I replaced
What is exactly crossloading(I did not screw up anything on PCB and as I wrote PS works fine with older mobo)
Also should I suspect big 220micro 200v caps or some power switching element

no monitor output with power hungry mobo?
but when you test the power supply though with an ancient motherboard it powers up pc ok and outputs picture to monitor screen
The more power hungry mobo(that though used to work with the mentioned ps)now works ok only with another power supply
Replaced otput filtering capacitors inside the power supply (although visually they looked ok) with Jamicons but still the same problem, what to check next please-perhaps big primary side el.caps give such symptom?

Re: atx supply will not start
cell phone camera not good
outputs have no bigger resistances than existing resistors and secondary heatsink elements measure ~ok without desoldering them
By cut I meant possibly burned across-broken solder lead to center pin of Psomething primary heatsink element next to 2 di30007k
Since there is a sg6105 schematic (no pfc) might me similar to
but would sg6105 cause shutdown if there was a problem with operation of the mentioned switching element

Re: atx supply will not start
Thanks for input so far
can you please link to rexpower pl350 solder side pics -I 'd like to check if what looks like a cut in the lead to the center pin of the switching element situated lowest in line of the primary heatsink, should actually be there
Though doubt this could be the reason of shutting PS output down and if high current made the cut why did the fast fuse stay ok

Re: atx supply will not start
thanks so this symptom is not caused by aged electrolitic caps but possibly heatsink mounted diodes
all with common anode? There are 3+2 components on 2 heatsinks, marking on 2 leggible is fr10036* and d130007k

Re: atx supply will not start
thanks but could not find the Rexpower/Maxpower schematics, wonder if there is a helpful generic schematics.
Also when you ground the green wire fan kind of starts spinning but then stops

Re: atx supply will not start
update
double checked purple and green both 5v,yellow~0.5v and the rest 0volts

Re: atx supply will not start
Rexpower brand, model 250 w I think,
I had enough electronics training to check resistors and diodes and seem ok, caps look ok and I doubt they are the problem because it stopped working so suddenly, probed red and green to black -both 0 volts

atx supply will not start
all of a sudden ,when you connect green to black wire on the motherboard plug.
What can be the cause of this?

Re: big-220volt or small-12/5/ volt caps?
ok I ll have a look but it worked flawlessly for years

Re: big-220volt or small-12/5/ volt caps?
well first noticed supply runs but mobo would not put graphics to monitor then opened both
and Vacuum cleaned now PC sometimes works until it resets ater you start a major hdd operation , and then works for a minute until another reset..
with another supply everythng ok

Re: big-220volt or small-12/5/ volt caps?
it is a regular no name supply another manifestation is if it does not work and reset than it would not put graphics on monitor at all
Vacuum cleaned it inside as well as the m.board-no help , you suspect some supply /mobo transistors or regulators ?

big-220volt or small-12/5/ volt caps?
PC m.board resets guess due to faulty supply(works ok with a new though stronger supply) so which caps to replace first?(visually all look ok)
tnx
