• Re: cable box for every tv in home?

So sell it outright like cable modems, activate it to those who already pay for premium service and/or have been a customer certain amount of years at no fee per month, because I am already paying BASIC SERVICE fee. They still make the money out right, it has to be activated digitally(no stealing). BUT it would have to be whole home, this per tv is just SOOO early 80's BS.

If it was truly about stopping those from stealing, that could be an alternitive option. BUT it...

  • cable box for every tv in home?

Just wondering how many other cable tv network providers require every tv to have a box in order to get basic cable? Even with a brand new lcd tv?

I'm havin' flash backs to the 80's when every tv had to have a box with the slider channel changer..............

At some point maybe if cox looses enough customers over this, they will just sell the box out right. But I thought the point of getting a new tv with digital tuner was the ability to receive a digital signal. I am not stealing it, I pay for it already for my dvr I already rent with my service.

  • Can this board burnout be saved

This is from my injector module (ford diesel) that converts 12v to 110v and is notorious for getting water in them. I heard a funny sizzle when I was working on something else, so shut it off but damage was already done. Nothing else looks brown on the board. About 1/2 teaspoom of water in it and you could see the water line scaling over time had left. I am supprised it lasted this long.

But apparently ford is kind of proprietary with some of their parts from what I have read so far. Hard to read the numbers on the parts till I remove it from the heatsink. Any idea on the parts...

  • Re: vizio m220mv red snow

I did that the last time, with the alcohol too, but that was also at the same time I re-flowed some of the solder joints on those main board connections, just not every last one.

And also where the end connects into the board attached to the screen, I pressed the thin metal down onto the connector a little. The other end is a real bear to go on, really requires some preassure.

When I get the TV back later today, I'll do all three again independently to see which had the positive effect on the...

It goes to the board that connects at the top of the screen with 6-7 flat copper colored ribbon type connections.

under that metal cover is two more flat white ribbon cables that go from the power board and seem to just connect right into the LCD panel, one at each end of the LCD screen. (black tape on far left top and bottom)

And the cable that is not attached in this pic #3 goes to the power board.

Do these help or do i need to get more pics?...

    22" Razor Class LED-LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV , 1.75" ultra-slim M220MV

This model does not show a TCON board on vizio's parts list, so I think it is built into the main board. The only other board really is where the 12v plugs into the powerboard.

Which part of the mainboard covers the TCON functions?
These four pics make up the main board....

    vizio m220mv red snow

vizio m220mv 2009 and uses a power brick to plug in. I have not found much info on this tv, except reviews.

In this first pic you can see the red snow only in a portion of the screen, I believe it was in standard 4:3 mode, so the portion that was not getting a video signal seemed not to show this effect. (If my thinking is correct)
Second pic is the LVDS portion of the mainboard where I replaced the on 470uf cap and re-flowed the 22uf 16v caps. The 22uf caps I have are half the size of the origonals, so I did not replace those yet.

    Visually all the caps look...
