Re: Vizio M550NV No picture, backlights work.
Paul, I'd be interested to know if your results of disconnecting 1 cable and testing, then disconnecting the other cable and testing, allow the left or right side (looking at the front of the tv) of the screen to work.

Re: Vizio M550NV No picture, backlights work.
Well, I tried what I described above. No dice.
When I diconnect the left (looking at the back of the tv) ribbon cable from the t-con board (middle board) the left side (looking at the front of the tv) of the screen works. When I do the opposite, no part of the screen works.
So, I hooked the left cable to the right side of the t-con board, hoping the left side of the display would show on the right side of the screen. Nothing.
Then I hooked the right cable to the left side of the t-con board,...

Re: Vizio M550NV No picture, backlights work.
I hate to bump old threads, but this is exactly what my M550NV is doing. I can disconnect 1 of the cables from the T-Con and half the screen works but when I reverse it, the other half does not.
What I want to know is, if I put the cable for the side of the TV that did not work in the above test into the side of the T-Con board that DID work, would this tell me for sure if it's the T-Con board is bad or if it's indeed the panel?
My logical thinking is that, if I put the cable of the working side into the "non-working"...

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
They told me that those caps that they sell are only for single CCFL setups. Mine is dual CCFLs. Also, mine were damaged when taking them off.
If the RTV silicone gasket or silicone caulk will work, then I'll use that.
It just sucks that they sell that whole upper and lower assembly for $32 (4 CCFLs all wired up and ready to go) and just 2 bulbs is going to cost $20.
It would be really nice if that assembly they sold that is made with 2.4x485mm bulbs would work.

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
CCFLwarehouse.com has been completely useless in my opinion. They sell an assembly. ..that THEY put together in house, that uses the 2 bulb silicone end caps but they won't sell me the end caps separately! BUT, they said they'd repair it for for over $70!! Yeah right!
The assemblies they sell http://www.ccflwarehouse.com/ccbaasfor22c1.html
Uses 2.4 X 485 mm CCFLs. I remeasured mine and I come up with 18 7/8" (about 482mm), so the 485 mm bulbs would not work, correct?
It'd all be fine and dandy...

Bought a digital caliper. They are indeed 2.4mmx480mm

I dont have a digital micrometer so I have no idea of thickness. Its under 3mm, but dont know exact. How do I measure length when itsvgot the silicone ends still on?

These are the ONLY markings on the back of the LCD panel. CCFLWAREHOUSE.COM said they mean nothing....

So, I'm not sure what to do. CCFLwarehouse.com is unable to help me without a model/make of the panel and I don't have a micrometer to measure the diameter of this thing.

Well, here are the results...
I still can't tell what make/model this screen is. There are NO other markings by which to tell who made this lcd panel....

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
Well, i'm hoping its just the wiring. I'll know later tonight and I'll post my findings.
Thanks!

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
I can see that the top would get the most heat, so it's understandable they would most likely go out first.
Should I replace BOTH CCFLs at the top then? Surely the other wouldnt be that far behind, right?
I don't know if I have any other pictures with the boards removed. The monitor is still taken apart at home (im at work) so I'd be able to check as soon as I get home this evening.
There were 2 stickers on the back of the panel with a bunch of letters and numbers, but CCFLwarehouse.com said neither of them were...

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
Ok, so I finally was able to test for which of the 4 bulbs was bad. 3 of the 4 tests continued to do the 2 seconds to black, so the bulb that was disconnected on the 1 test that worked correctly is the culprit. Now I have to take the display further apart to determine if it's the wiring or the CCFL itself. It is 1 of the 2 at the top of the display (not sure if that's the more common one to go on this particular model, or any model for that matter). I will be doing that tonight.
I tried contacting CCFLwarehouse.com to find out which CCFL...

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
This makes a lot of sense. I guess I just thought that one of the plugs was the return instead of one of the wires in each PLUG being the return. I will try this tonight and post back my findings.
Heh, I'm not FROM here, though I've lived here for the last 14+ years. I was born and raised in Virginia, and made the username when I lived in Northern VA when I skied. Take a guess how long my skis have been sitting in my closet...LoL ...

Re: LCM-22w2...another story...
I guess i didnt. I thought that, because the wiring colors are different, that it was 2 CCFLs, not 4. So the different colors dont mean anything?...Last edited by xtremeskier97; 09-18-2014, 05:50 PM.

LCM-22w2...another story...
Well, so the story goes, I had problems with this monitor about a year ago where it would come on and work sometimes, but other times the screen would be blank. I'd have to turn it on and off numerous times to get it to show the display. Well, after some interweb searching, I found out that this monitor has issues with Caps going bad. So, I opened it up and found there were indeed leaking caps. So, after research, I ordered a kit that contained all 9 caps, a very tini tiny thing (don't know what it's called, forgive me) and 2 transistors/mosfets (the 2 things just to the right of the 2 big transformer...
