Found a main board for cheap and swapped it. Works perfect now.

My new LG TV, which I purchased to replace my Vizio with no sound just over a month ago, recently took a crap from what was most likely a lightning strike (along with my DirectTV box, modem, garage door opener, and ice maker). Since the DirectTV box also was fried, could it have messed up the TV via the HDMI cable? When I plug the TV in and turn it on, the screen has an irregular strobe/flash going on with random horizontal white lines flashing. There is no picture, just black screen with white lines and flashing back-lighting. Once on, it does this until I unplug it (won't stop with power button)....

My Vizio model m420nv TV recently had the sound go out. I tried to see if I could get sound out of the audio jack, but it didn't work. I switched from the DirectTV box to the DVD player to see if it was an input problem, but it didn't have sound either. After some research, some people reported the audio setting changes in the menu by itself. I tried to check the menu, but the remote doesn't work (fresh batteries), and the button on the TV itself only accesses the quick menu, which only has volume, power, input, and channel options. I tried researching more, but it seems like everyone has video...

Hello, I have had 2 TVs take a crap within the last 2 months and have been researching fixes. From all my searches, this site seems to have the most/best info. Hopefully I can fix my Vizio with no sound and LG, which was the replacement for the vizio, that is the victim of a recent lighting strike (along with my DirectTV box, modem, garage opener, and ice maker)
