  • Voltage Regulator

I have a voltage regulator on a circuit, part number L7805CV, and I get around 32 volts on the input and 14.88 volts on the output. What I want to know is that enough volts for the circuit to operate on when it says it needs 15V? I know there is some logic that is supplied by this voltage.

The reason this is concerning me is because there is a bypass cap on the line (the one that goes from the circuit to ground) that was bad. I dont think the low voltage caused it; however, what would be effected by the cap blowing. The device I am working on is a CLSC-12S subwoofer it turns on...

    Clsc-12s

I have a CLSC-12S subwoofer and it recently went out. I replaced a bad cap; however, it turns on but doesnt play any sound. Does anybody have any experience in fixing subs? Does anybody have a schematic for the circuitry in the sub? Thanks. Ask if you need some more information.

Is this a common problem in monitors or does it not happen that often to where I cannot find anything over this type of problem.

Ok. So I used a good monitor that is the same make and model and replaced the video board on the defective one with the board from the new one and it works fine. Then I put the defective one in the good monitor and it displays green. Remind you I did swap vga cables so they are good. Therefore i narrowed it down to just the video board. If any one can help me I would appreciate it. Also what is the little silver looking box shown in the pictures. Thank you. It says on it 24.000H7C....

One of the ccfl tubes was broken on the side that had one half glowing and the other dead. The glass seems to have came loose from the connection.

I just resoldered my joints and the monitor still shuts off. So I opened my lcd screen and pulled out the ccfl tubes it looks as though they are the problem. One set shows a reddish tent which I read means they are going out. The other set has one half shining and the other one dead. Now can anyone tell me where I can find the best deal for these tubes. I dont know what amperage they are all I know is they are 42 cm.
    thank you

Ok I havent looked at my solder joints yet but I will do that when I get home. I was wondering if you could give me information on how to check if my CCFL tubes are the problem. Is there a way to check if the tubes are causing it? Thank You.

    Here are some more pics.
I tested the transistors. Tell me if this is correct I turned my digital multimeter to the diode sign (the one with the arrow) and I measured my
1+2 .854V on Q6 .854V on Q5 when pos. terminal was on 1 (1 being the leg to the left when looking at the back three legs). The other way they would rise all the way until I got a 0L on my meter.
1+3 .667V on Q6 .667V on Q5 stayed steady. switched leads measured both at .603V.
2+3 both measured .281V when pos. terminal was on 3 and went to 0L when terminals...

  • Re: Testing a transformer

Ill post pics of the transistors tomorrow I am currently not by the monitor right now. I was wondering do I have to take the transistors off the board when I am testing them. Something else I rememober is that the middle leg is not attached to the board.
Thank you for the info. If anyone else can help with identifing the transistors I would be happy.
    Thank you.

  • Re: Testing a transformer

Ok so I got my caps in today and I replaced them all on the board with the same kind but panasonics. However, the problem still persist. Now the monitor seems to stay on for less time. I was wondering how to test those transistors on the other side of the board. Do I have to take it of the board and what do I do. The transistors are sitting right below the burnt marks. I was also wondering if it doesnt cost much I might as well replace them but I dont know what size or anything all it says on the transistor is 550E 6J the board says 200-000-170DTLBMH and...

  • Display is exhibiting a green screen

I have a Optiquest Q7 lcd monitor that is fine when it turns on but when it picks up the signal from the computer it shows green. So when I first turn on the screen it shows "signal cable disconnect" fine but when i plug in the vga cord it will display the screen with a greenish tint. I have tried a different working vga cord, I have tried a different computer. I am not sure what the problem is. Sorry for the not too decent photos the screen is completely green not just half of it like shown in the picture....

Ok I have a question how much would it affect things if I put a cap with 85deg rating compared to what was in there a 105deg for the time being till my new ones come in. Also how do I test a transistor I have no info on it all it says on the fet is 3055 and 6j is there any documentation you can point me to. Where would be a good and not to expensive place to get parts that has low shipping. thank you

  • Re: Testing a transformer

Ok I know what yall are talking about. The reason I ruled that out is because I took the caps off the board and did the resistance test on them and they climbed to infinite resistance or 0L on my meter. I said I was going to replace them anyways I am just waiting on parts. Ill let yall know in a week. Would that cause a dimmer screen. The caps are xunda 220uF 25V 105degs which you see in the pictures. 4 680uF 25V suscon, 1 more xunda 220uF 25V 105degs, 2 470uF 25V xunda 105degs. and a 10uF 25V 105deg. If yall want to give me anymore info on monitors or...

  • Re: Testing a transformer

Ok. I'm sorry I was going to post pictures but I was not where the monitor was when I posted this. Here is the deal I have a burnt spot as shown in the photos. Also, I forgot to mention it looks as if the screen is not as bright as my other monitor. I am hooking my the broken monitor to my laptop and using them together and I can see that the broken monitor is darker even when it has its brightness all the way up. Therefore my other question is could the tubes be a problem. The hole screen is darker not just in one area....

    Testing a transformer

I have a mag lt1919wdb and it has the problem with it turning off after about 5 seconds. I have checked the caps they are good I am going to replace them anyways. I have two transformers on the inverter side of the board. This is where I need someones help. By the inverter on the same side as all the caps are on there look to be burnt spots. I need help in testing a transformer to see if it is bad and if it is where a good place to buy one. The transformer has seven leads coming off one side and two leads coming off the other side with the capacitor in between them. If someone could tell me in...
