• Re: Dell 3008wfp faulty power supply

    It's working!

Thank you everyone who has contributed here. I was able to debug it by reading through the thread again.

At the top of page 12, Maxidud2000 had a similar issue to me in that the blue power indicator light came on but not signal was received and the on-screen-menu was not working. Hi selldoor, I pulgged the connector in. Then I saw the backlight come on (at least I think it is a backlight as it is a kind of 'glowing' behind the LCD). On the same board there is a small dblue ribbon connector as well. I reseated that as well but still no output or on screen display (menu) showing.

If I disconnect the VGA cable, the blue power indicator light turns to orange.

Sorry, I forgot to connect the power board connector the the circuit board on the back-right of the monitor.

Now I get a backlight at least but still no output. Also, the On-Screen-Menu doesn't show when I push the buttons. Not even the source select shows. I can't remember if this monitor has an auto source select.

    Hi Everyone,

I have a 3008WFP in which I've replaced D22 with STPS40170CT (testing the old D22 showed it was shorted). I also didn't put the ferrite insulator back on the leg of the STPS40170CT. I hope that's OK.

Anyway, I now get a blue power light and the monitor is detected by Windows 7 when I connect my laptop via the VGA connection, but the 3008WFP doesn't show any output. What do I do now?

I haven't put the plastic case or bezel back on so disassembly should be straight forward. Any clues as...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi from downunder! I'm tired of seeing broken stuff just chucked out because no one bothers to fix stuff these days. Anyway I'm hoping to learn some simple electronics repair and maybe progress to more complicated stuff.
