Budm, I took the screen apart to observe the ccfl tubes, while it is brief, all the tubes appear to light.

Again as i said it is less than 1 second. Quick flash.

As to the I/O, there are 4 wires that my friend told me about that are important. All the other wires that go between the power board and the main logic board are just simply power and ground.

The 4 signals are as follows and it is the way it is silk screened onto the power board.

    PS ON, I/O, DIM, LMP

    As first my friend told...

Ok Budm, heres a question concerning the CCFL backlight, a guy told me that if i were to jump the black and brown wires which are ps/on and I/O it would permanently turn on the power supply and keep the CCFL inverter on.

I think this is a wrong statement. Because everything i have read seems to indicate that the invertor sends out the startup pulse, and like you said then starts monitoring the current, if the current does not match what it expects to see it shuts down the invertor circuit.

Now i have opened up the back of the...

  • Re: Vizio E420VL problem

So basically if i understand these guides, you turn the power on which in turn turns the invertor on, it is at that time the invertor sends the start up voltage to the lamps. if after a short period of time the invertor does not detect the proper current draw from the lamps, it shuts down. Would that be a correct assessment?

So in the case of a 42 in tv it is looking for a certain current to be maintained once the bulbs start up. if it does not maintain then it shuts down, which is why the quick blip.

    I was looking at that...

  • Vizio E420VL problem

Ok i have a vizio that has an issue, i know go figure, been doing a lot of reading it would appear that these units have many problems.

Anyway the original problem was the unit would not power on or anything. I had the power board tested and it came back as good. Had the main board tested it came back as damaged beyond repair.

So i purchased a used board, i know big mistake, but it was the only one i could find.

Anyway the symptoms are as follows: Power off/standby vizio symbol orange, power on vizio symbol goes white. Now the screen flashes breifly...

    E420vo

Have E420VO television. I think it was struck by static from an electrical storm. Not 100 percent sure. All I know now is that it will not power up.

My first guess was that it might be the power board, so I purchased one off of ebay. Said it was new, but I get the same thing, the vizio sign stays in the indication color for standby.

So either the power board I received was no good or my main board is no good. I know on some television power boards there was a switch to turn the power board on manually, however I do not see that on this board. And measuring the voltages...

Ok well here is the latest round of updates for this screen. I have measured all voltages off of the power board. I have referenced the voltages with either the name plate inside the monitor or the silk screen printing on the board. Here is what I have.

Vs should be 60 is 60.3
Va should be 190 is 190.1
    V1 should be 24 is 23.85
    V2 should be 12 is 11.96
    V3 should be 5 is 5.01
    V4 should be 3.3 is 3.41
    V5 should be 9 is 8.97

All of these rating are in my humble opinion good.

jayoung, I am asking in this forum because of the fact that it is indeed a computer display. Granted it is a 50 in display but still it only has the connections on for VGA 15 pin, HDMI, and another choice just done remember what it is.

After looking at the power board, I noticed that several caps were damaged. However not finding a schematic for the board has made it difficult to know if anything else is damaged. Here is a list of the 3300 mF 10V caps that were damaged, and a list of the 1000 mF 10V caps that were damaged.

    201, 202, 203, 227, 271,272, 275, 281, 282, 283

The power board is REV 1.1 EAX32241201 YPSU-J013A LG PN: AAX30284301

The problem is that the unit turn on and off using the power button, you can see the status of the LED indicator...

I realized that I might need to be more clear here so here is further information.

Plug unit into wall, LED power light is red (standby mode), press the power on button led power light turn green and you audibly hear a click, most likely some sort of relay or something. However there is no picture. Press menu or any other key, again still no picture. LED on front stays green.

The LEDS refered to in previous message are on a board located under the video board.

I can tell you there are two large boards, one on...

    NEC PlasmaSync 50XP10

Have one of these displays, unit powers up, but there is no display.

I am thinking in the power supply or one of the boards controlling the plasma. But unfamiliar with the plasma technology.

SO I thought I would drop a line on here and see if anyone else has one of these units and if there is known problems that can be easily fixed.

I can tell you there is one board in the screen that has 4 led's on it, only three of them are lit up. When first powered on they flash. after about 2 or 3 min then they stay lit.

So what can anyone tell me...

    Dell E172 Power board

I did a search on here and found several threads regarding this power board. However none of them seemed to be the problem I am having. I know it has to do with the HIGH power side. See attached photo of board.

The area that is circled in red is the problem area. Right now I have the line side of both transformers connected. The load side of the top transformer is not connected. If I connect both load sides of both transformers, it shorts out the two transistors located just beneath the two transformers.

The bottom side has no problems, except for the fact that when...

    Hissing Power Supply

I have a 17in OptiQuest Q7. Recently one of the CCFL tubes had broke and shorted. I replaced the bulbs and noticed a kind of hissing noise from the power supply board. Then after about 10 min or so the CCFL tubes would turn off. Luckily I had a spare power board. Put that in the hissing noise went away and the monitor works just fine. However I would like to repair this board that is bad just so I have a replacement since we have so many of these monitors in house.

    The power board is FSP035-1PI01ZH

I am thinking that when the lamp broke and shorted it took out the...
