  • Re: LG 42PC3D-UD No picture just sound

I have the same set. All 9 of the 3300uF 10V caps in the power supply were leaking / high ESR. All replaced, fuse on y sus blown. Swapped for another ysus, but of unknown quality as it came froma set with a blown hybrid IC on the Z Sus. Hear a ticking sound on the Y sus board. The Z sus has the familiar 60hz buzz. Picture flickers with this ticking. Any ideas? Bad Y sus I suspect....

I don't see any option to change power up mode in setup menu. Is this in a hidden service menu?

  • Panasonic th-42px60 always powers up on hdmi2

I have a Panasonic TH42PX60 that came in claiming to be totally dead.
I am thinking power supply right. Wrong. The unit powered up.
I checked all the caps in the power supply, and they are all testing good with my ESR meter, and the set is functioning what I initially thought was normal, except when it is turned off, and then back on, it goes to HDMI2, even though there is nothing plugged in. I can switch it back to tuner, and it goes to channel 3, from there I can change channels.
Turn it off and on again, and it is again on HDMI2.
It doesn't matter what input is...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi my name is Dave.
I am a retired electronics service tech that just can't seem to put down my screw driver and scope probe.
I spent over 22 years running a busy service department, and doing all the component level repairs on everything from tube amps, to high end home theatre components, projectors and televisions.
These days it is more of a hobby, and because people just keep bringing me stuff to repair.
