  • Re: TC-P42S30 - Nothing...

Really beginning to wonder if it is worth the money to replace boards. A PS3 that was connected to the TV via HDMI is also damaged. It powers on but I can't get a picture. Since the strike hit the dish, it took out the DTV box and looks to have hit the TV via the HDMI cable. It must have also gone out the HDMI to the PS3 and damaged that. I had an old Xbox connected via composite cables and it is working fine. Does this sound like a credible theory? Wondering if that main board is toast as well now.

Any way to confirm the power board is bad? I can't find a replacement in stock anywhere. I would like to fix. Thanks.

Getting proper voltage on both sides of that. In fact, I get line voltage at D309 on the same side as the relay. On the other side of D309, I am getting funny readings.

Here is the whole block diagram.

    Thanks....

I do not have any voltage on that connector at all on any pin. Black on chassis and red touching each wire on the connector.

I also checked for voltage on both of the large caps, putting the black lead on the Neutral point and checking both sides of both caps. Nothing greater than 2 VAC.

Started tracing the VAC in from the plug and got it to where the blue box is attached. Relay RL101 is open. So it is not being activated. Where to next? Visual inspection for damage, burn marks or bad caps reveals nothing.

    Thanks for the reply.

I downloaded a service manual, but it says the power board is not serviceable so there is nothing more than a block diagram. I'm new at this, but have a basic understanding electronics repair.

I'm with you that the main board could have taken a hit, but since I can not even get any indication of power, I wanted to start there first and see what happens.

I have taken a picture of the power board. There are 2 very large capacitors. I assume that I need to take the board off the set to get...

  • TC-P42S30 - Nothing...

    Hello,

I have a Panasonic TC-P42S30 that will not do anything. No standby lights, no clicking, nothing.

Lightning hit the satellite dish and blew out both DTV receivers and our cable modem. The hit apparently came in over the coax cables, must have fried the DTV box and possibly went for the TV through the HDMI? We did have several circuits in the house blown, but PS3, Xbox and other devices in the same power strip are ok.

I opened the back of the set and checked the 5 fuses on the power supply board and they all show in tact using a ohm meter. I...
