Re: Toshiba M35X clicking noise from mb
Yeah thanks TH3 I felt it in my water it was something else causeing the faint clicks.
On the reverse side of the board are 4x 8 pin dil chips two are branded
4810
BO and a delta sign
W48A
the other two
4800B
CD and a delta sign
W49B
Seven legs of each of the 4 devices are grounded.
Will they be the mosfets if so does anyone have the data sheets for them I can't find them on google

Re: Toshiba M35X clicking noise from mb
Thats a good idea - I have another laptop with the same clicking but have never been able to isolate the sucker.
Forgot to mention the laptop in question does not power on at all, is it likely the clicking transformer to be the cause or is it the effect of something else thats gone bad?
Whats the best way of removing these sm transfomers

Toshiba M35X clicking noise from mb
The motherboard has a clicking noise coming from one of two transformers which are situated next to a maxim1902eai chip a Power-Supply
Controller.
Any ideas would be most welcome - thanks.

Re: Dell E193FPp problem
Hi
Sorry to bring up an old post, but I have had another look at this monitor (E193FPP) and found the problem is the inverter transformer. It is open circuit on the secondary.
My question is does anyone know where to purchase these transformers, in the UK preferably?
Thanks

Re: Dell E193FPp problem
Lucky I think the monitor has not been used, if it has, then it hasn't seen much usage at all.
When I switch the monitor on, both CCFT's do light up, and when they go out there is a low buzzing noise, sounds like the transformer(s).
I'm after getting hold of a universal inverter board, for testing, so I will buy a couple of tubes as well.

Re: Dell E193FPp problem
You are right Bob, the mosfet above is on the PS side there are two FETs on the back of the board - part no P5506BGD, the 3 pin type....

Re: Dell E193FPp problem
Thanks for the info Bobdee. I took the mosfet out and did a couple of tests, there are no short circuits across any of the pins and there is a 0.4 volt drop across the s-d pins ( diode across s-d ), which seems in agreement with the diagram given in the data sheet you so kindly supplied.
However I don't think that is a sufficient test for a mosfet. I haven't been able to find a replacement for this component ( UK ) yet, but I could get hold of the STP9NK60ZPF.
STP9NK60ZPF Vdss of 600V, Rds of 0.95 ohms, Id of...

Re: Dell E193FPp problem
Thanks for the replies. I will try and get a better picture of the board soon.
Took another look at this monitor, when the CCFT's go out the windows desktop is still on the screen, does that indicate there is only a problem in the inverter section of the board?
I tried checking a couple of the components that are being cooled by heatsinks, two are ok, they are simple diode arangments, but one I could not test is a high speed voltage switch mosfet, part no. STP9NK70ZPF.
Any ideas how I can do a reliable test on...

Re: Dell E193FPp problem
I found an image of the board at the following link

Dell E193FPp problem
Hi
I have a Dell E193FPp monitor, switch it on and the desktop appears for around 3 seconds, switch it off, then on again, and the desktop appears for around 1 second... and so on.
The inverter board caps ( capxon ) show no sign of bulging or leaking.
Any suggestion most welcome
Thanks
