• Re: Genuine Rubycon MBZ or not?

I don't know.
My instrument might be inaccurate. I will try to get an another ESR meter to test.
My meter is from here: http://members.upc.hu/lethanh.hung/LCFESRmero/en/index.htm

I made some measurement today with 2 instruments. Metrix MX56 can measure capatitance only, and IX3131B can measure capatitance and resistance at 100Hz, 120Hz, 1kHz, 10Khz. Unfortunately it cannot measure resistance at 100kHz.
The result is quite confusing for me:

Yes they are on a paper tape. I can make pictures, but I don't think that it is necessary. The pictures on ebay is just the same that i received....

You are right, but I wanted a second chance to make sure that he is not any better than the other chinese cap seller on ebay.
Well before last time when I wanted some caps from ebay I googled the net who to buy from. This is how I got here to this forum. There are a lot of comments here praising egekecu and stating that he sells genuine caps.
I thought that I receved some crap from him by mistake at that time, or something like that.
I wanted to beleive that this time I will receive good caps, but this is not that...

Well I guess that egekecu on Ebay are selling the same crap caps like the others.

I paid ~$30USD for 30 caps (12 pcs MCZ 1000uF/10V and 18 pcs MBZ 1800uF).

It is the second time I get rubbish from Egekecu.

Last time (dec 2013) I ordered 12 pcs Nichicon HD. The problem was the same, too high ESR. I was not 21 mOhm but 61 mOhm. I made a complaint. Egekecu apologized and refunded and sent some other suspicious caps, and blocked my ebay username, so I cannot buy from him any more. This time I got my friend to buy...

Well I did the reforming some MCZ 1800, but there is no change. The ESR did not get lower (35 mOhm instead of 12), and the capacitance did not get higher (1650uF instead of 1800 uF)...

I've never heard about reforming caps. It seems to be interesting. I'll give it a try.

thanks

Hi!

I bought some Rubycon caps on Ebay. I guess they're counterfeit because the ESR value does not match the value in the datasheet.

Rubycon MBZ 10V/1000uF 8x16mm, blue colour, K-vent, T0429 date code, measured ESR is 49-52 mOhm (should be 28 mOhm)

Rubycon MCZ 6.3V/1800uF 8x20mm, black colour, K-vent, T0635 date code, measured ESR is 32-35 mOhm (should be 12 mOhm)

...
