Re: Vizio e500i-b1 no turn on standby light fades out in 5 sec.
FWIW I had the same unit with the same symptom brought to me. I replaced ic 9101 under heat sink (on power supply) and so far so good. gonna watch it for a day or so before sending it back home. I will update if it crashes and burns.

My nephew's TV is sitting on my bench-dead.
It seems similar to 2 seconds to black except no image or sound. There is snow on the screen once it turns black, if viewed with a flashlight. It has no sound, and the power light stays green. The menu button seems to work, but not the source button as far as I can tell. I don't think it can be assumed that the main board is good, so do I need to suck it up and buy a main board for him?
Thanks for any advice!

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi everyone! My name is Brian (obviously), I am a retired copier repairman/network engineer for a international copier company. I haven't done much in the way of component level repairs since my military days in the 80's. Back then I had access lots of expensive test gear that I no longer do. Hopefully with the forum's help I can figure out some of this stuff again. Sorry for the dumb questions in advance!
Thanks!
Brian
