  • Re: Thinkpad T520 no backlight, need help & advice, schematics provided

Ok so I got it back and running. Just one question I hope someone can clear out, when I first turned it on (on battery) after complete dissasembly including the backup battery I saw it "try" to turn on 3 consecutive times (power button lighted and died 3 times), then it showed the bad cmos checksum. After setting time and all that it boots normally at first try like before.

Is it normal that it tried to boot up and failed or was it doing some kind of general checking? I had it dissasembled...

Ok so I tested the ohms again and it keeps showing 1 from 200ohms to 20M, multimeter manual says it'll show 1 when the measurement is above the rank, I guess this is whats happening and the fuse ohms are greater than 20M ohms. When testing other fuses the reading is the same as when touching the probes together (0.04). On the second test what should I be trying to measure? ohms or volts and am I grounding to the motherboard ground or the laptop chasis?

About DC Amps sorry if im a bit skeptic...

Hi, I have a Thinkpad T520, i5 with integrated graphics. Some days ago I decided to try upgrading my laptops screen to a FHD one, when I first installed the new screen it all went nice and smooth and worked perfectly. Unfortunately I decided to swap back the old screen except this time I didnt take out the battery, now neither the old or new screen backlight will light up. So ive been reading the possible causes and I was hopeful it was something simple like a blown fuse, because the computer works perfectly on external monitors and I can even do normal stuff if I point a flashlight at it, that...

Hello, college student and amateur technician here, nothing serious until today that I need to save my own machine. I hope to learn from pros and give help back when I become a good technician.
