neighbor gave me this sharp tv when he moved, said it died. I plugged it in and it came on normally, then shut its self off in 5 mins. left unplugged for an hour and powered it back on, worked again for about an hour then shut its self off again. Now nothing, no power, no standby light- no power at all.
test top power lead from PS supply to main board. have 19v across 3 terminals that is correct, but do not have 5v ps on stand by. figured was PS board, bought a used board from ebay, installed, same syptoms with no power, no stand by 5v at main plug from ps to main board. both board don't...

  • LG 47LN5700 Back light issue

    Hello all,
I recently repaired this tv for a friend and replaced all the led strips from this unit, which I bought at shop Jimmy. TV fired up, looked great and ran fine for about 45 days.I ran the software update, turned down the backlight settings like recommended. But, the unit is dark with another backlight issue.
I've measured the voltages at the led output plug, i'm getting 78v. when I first turn on the set, voltage is at 130 and then continually decreases till it settles out and stays at 78v.

    P/S board output voltages states - 100v row 47

Yes, got a picture with lower Board disconnected, so that seems to be the problem. Found the entire y-board set(all 3 boards ) on eBay for $85, so going to swap all of them. Thanks for the help mmartell, much appreciated!
I'll post how it turns out when new boards are in....

I disconnected x-board from x-buffers with no change, then reconnected. disconnected y-buffers from y-main board and bingo, all VS/VA voltages read what they should be. Connected y-buffers separately and seems the lower y-buffer is shorted.
Do I have to replace them as a pair?
    Thanks for the advice....

    Hello,
I need some help troubleshooting a Samsung PN60F8500AF Plasma tv. It does not turn on, just has a red flashing standby light when plugged in. I did some basic troubleshooting on my own. I removed the back panel, looked for any bad caps, burnt looking parts and tested the fuses, all looked good.
From their, I took some voltage readings with a MM. While the unit is plugged in, I tested all the voltages throughout the board at all plugs/connectors and found voltages matching stated ranges, except the VS AND VA voltage and this is where I need help.
    I took readings right...
