Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
They work, Yay. I replaced all the larger caps, though not the big one or the two little ones near the big one. All five boards test good. I still have to do all the reassembly. Thanks all. Now I will be ready when the other ones we have on campus go bad as well.

Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
I checked all the Panels with a know good monitor and they all worked with them. So that rules out that possibility. As for caps, I was wondering if it is ok to have a higher voltage, on the PSU there are two 1000 uF 16V and one 1000 uF 25V. Would it be ok to use the same cap for both, so I can order in larger quantities. Right now I have six of these monitors that I am fixing, and the college I work at has a lot more out on the field.
Thanks,

Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
The big caps are Samxon GF (M) 1000uF 16V and 680uF 25V and the smaller is the same brand but 470uF 25V. all are 105 C. Do you think the little ones need replacing as well, they are all Samxon as well?
I have a duplicate of the first board, with no buldging caps and the same problem.
As for the CCFLs one one of my boards there is a difference when testing with only one set of lamps plugged in (it was a little dim), but the other works fine. I have also tested it with multiple CCFLs and it does the...

Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
I have been having the two second turn off problem with a bunch of these monitors I have at work. I have opened up three and have found two different PSUs. It appears to be the same problem with each of the units though. I haven't yet tried replacing the caps, but it seems like this problem isn't easily fixed by just replacing the caps. I checked the voltages going to the video board and they were 12 and 5 as they should be. I was wondering what you all would suggest I do first?
Thanks

Re: Gateway 700G repair didn't take
One of the boards works , with the screen, and it displays from a working computer. the other one in testing, I put it in slightly wrong and the green ground cable hit the board and blew the F101 fuse, and maybe some other damage, though hopefully not. I will be more careful next time.
So for the working one at least the fuse was the culprit on the one, though I don't know for sure if it is for the other, since one board gave 0V and the other gave 2.5V and I can't remember which was which. So I think I will replace the fuse on the working...

Re: Gateway 700G repair didn't take
Okay, So Where I stand now, is that I have the 900G working by replacing the logic board, (the one I think I might have shorted out). Do you have any thoughts on what to check on the logic board? two of them work, and test good by showing the blue power button light. the other doesn't give me a power light.
Then the two 700Gs show 5V at the pin after the bridge test, and they then give a blue power light when plugged into the good logic board. So it seems to me that the fuses are at least a problem. For the fuses, I will probably...

Re: Gateway 700G repair didn't take
Yeah they are all the same board.
1. Yeah that fuse is blown on both the ones that 5V wasn't working right. I didn't see that fuse.
2. I got them off parts express,

these and the equivalent. I don't know how to test ESR.
3. Yes I got 12V
Thanks,Re: Gateway 700G repair didn't take<... blown on both

Re: Gateway 700G repair didn't take
Hello All,
Thought I would add my thanks and ails, I work at a college who for a long time bought computers from gateway, so we have at least 200 or so of these monitors on our campus mostly 700Gs and 900Gs. On seeing that there seemed to be a rash of monitors breaking. I decided to do a little investigating and found this site. I have been able to fix three broken ones so far using the insights on the board. However, I am currently working on two that after replacing all the caps, including the small one. I am still not getting 5V. on...
