  • Re: Philips 32PFL3505 Random SHut Off; Now won't turn on

    Awesome! Thank you so much.

Do the diodes need to be removed for testing or can I just go leg to leg across the diode while it's still on the board?

Watched this, so I think I may need to test both in and out of circuit. HE just removes solder to "take it out of circuit". He doesn't actually remove it from the board. I would think it would still be making contact. Or are the vias not through-plated?Re: Philips 32PFL3505...

  • Philips 32PFL3505 Random SHut Off; Now won't turn on

Behavior is similar to a Samsung TV on which I replaced power supply filter caps, so I wasn't too alarmed when the TV would randomly turn off. It would always turn back on, and I figured I'd fix it when I had to. So now it turned off and will not turn back on. The LED Indicator is a white light. It flashes when you hit the power button, seems like the TV is warming up to fire, and then the light just turns off.

I checked the resistor right next to the fuse, and it checks out OK. No bulging caps or melted IC, or burned resistors that I can see. So I guess I need to trouble shoot....

I have a similar TV that had the same problem as your initially. White lindicator ight when you press power, then it just shuts off. Prior to this the TV would randomly shut off, too. I suppose I'll make a new thread.
