Re: Toshiba plasma toubleshooting

Hi. I am repairing an AKAI PD42X32000 plasma TV, that has both picture and sound BUT the black portions of the picture are covered with red noise. When I turn down the voltage on Vs and Vo, the red interference almost goes away, but the picture becomes very washed out. I've checked the voltage on the power supply board and Vs and Vo are both within spec with ripple of less than 0.6V on Vs and 0.2V on Vo. I'm leaning toward blaming the Zsus board since it's responsible for brightness levels, but the service manual says to look at the control or logic...

My name is Randy, from Nanaimo BC, Canada. I took the computer engineering technology program at Camosun college nearly twenty years ago, and have hardly picked up a soldering iron since then. I've recently gotten back into repairing older audio amplifiers and am branching out into plasma tv repair. I'm searching high and low for info, and while I'm a bit rusty, I'm certainly appreciating the help from here and other internet sites.
