Re: Exploding cap on Dynex power board...?
It sprayed liquid all over and gave off a huge cloud of smoke. You can faintly see some residue above and around it. The main fuse (lower right, round red object) is NOT blown.
Here is a closeup.

Exploding cap on Dynex power board...?
Recently our Dynex DX-42E250A12 42" LCD TV stopped responding. When we shut it off, we could not turn it on. The standby LED remained lit, but there was no response to the "on" button. I have a smattering of electronics experience, and I've replaced things like fuses and caps on circuit boards before, so I took it apart to see if I could find a problem. The TV is easy to disassemble. There are only three boards inside. The power supply board is the only one that has non-solid caps on it. I could not find any that were bulged, and the fuse tested good. Connections all looked tight,...Last edited by guyonearth; 06-02-2014, 05:27 PM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
I'm just a do-it-yourselfer who likes to know how to fix things on my own. Too many devices are discarded for lack of a simple repair, and too much money is thrown away on things that could otherwise be fixed almost for nothing...imho.
