Re: MSI Gt70 Dominator MS-17631 VER 1.1 bios and EC
its the gt70-2pe dominator pro. Just used AsProgrammer to program my chips. The PM25LD512 chip i purchased was not automatically detected by the AsProgrammer program (no manufacturer would come up, I had to manually select it from the list). Could this make my EC chip useless? Unfortunately it is still not POSTing. I am beginning to think it is a bad bga gpu, as tried with a known working CPU and had the same no POST symptoms, any easy way to test the gpu?

MSI Gt70 Dominator MS-17631 VER 1.1 bios and EC
anyone have the bios files for this laptop? would a CH341A programmer be able to program it in windows? chips are: Pm25LD512(EC) and QH64-104HIP(BIOS) i tried some from OneLab but was unsucessful

Re: MSI Gt70 Dominator Pro no boot no backlight
I am not sure, I bought the system second hand in its "nonworking" state. One interesting thing is that all the CPU mosfets, coils, large smd caps, and small smd caps come up as shorted from lead to lead, and both leads have continuity to ground. However when i remove the CPU all of these components read as they should. Anything else i can try? If i buy a new CPU what are the chances this motherboard will fry it? Ill check again but i am pretty sure it is a Intel i7...

Re: MSI Gt70 Dominator Pro no boot no backlight
ah ok, i probably should have explained all the symptoms i am having. Laptop will not POST, am not getting any backlights or image. Some keys and power button LED light up. No fans, No HDD, it will charge the battery but that is about it. When i turn it on, it will only stay on for maybe 20 seconds before it cuts off. Getting 1.8v on CPU rail (CPU gets burning hot, which i am sure is normal but the SMD caps and Coils around the CPU are also burning hot, is that normal?) I have reflashed both BIOS chips and its still doing the same...

MSI Gt70 Dominator Pro no boot no backlight
Originally I thought it was a bad BIOS tried re-flashing the bios with no luck, decided to probe around the CPU and i noticed i was getting continuity to ground on both legs of all the smd capacitors. Could this be normal? i noticed if i remove the cpu the caps are acting much more normal (one leg grounded, other floating). I am attaching some photos, i am asking because i never heard about a cpu going bad before. The motherboard is a MS-17631 ver. 1.1...

Re: UN55B8000XF No Backlights/Picture on (only sound)
OMG nomoresonys i ordered your ebay link for a 46 mainboard that was on shopjimmy's list and..... It worked! Thank you I would have never trusted shopjimmy's list. Good for Samsung making interchangeable parts, a long time coming. I do have to use a different Samsung remote control but worth it. I am still going to try and figure out what happened with the original mainboard but for now the set is up and running with no issues at all. Thanks again

Re: UN55B8000XF No Backlights/Picture on (only sound)
Sorry it took me so long to reply i had to go out of the country, but now am back and ready to work on this tv again. I tried to upload the pdf service manual but it was too large at 58MB, here is the download link:
That is a nice trick for a steady 5V supply i guess the next step is to work backwards from the mainboard to psu connector and try to find my mainboard's 3.3v power rail? or should i just start by checking the MOSFETS/DC Regulators for 3.3 on their outputs? Where would you s...

Re: UN55B8000XF No Backlights/Picture, (only sound)
ok I am going to pull the main board out to test the regulators on the back, it looks like I am not getting 3.3v. I am going to use the 5v stby, the 5v stby(ground) from the psu. Do I also need to ground the main board to the chassis/panel? Am I missing anything?

Re: UN55B8000XF No Backlights/Picture on (only sound)
I would like to repair the mainboard, some of the DC regulators are on the back which will make voltage checks difficult to take. Would it be possible to check them via diode mode, with the mainboard removed from the TV? I am confident in my smd soldering skills, and this mainboard is very difficult to find online. I would upload the service manual for this TV but I am sure that would be against forum rules.

Re: UN55B8000XF No Backlights/Picture on (only sound)
Sorry it took me so long to reply I wanted to be thourough on these voltage readings. Please see pics. 0v for BL_ON when mainboard is plugged in and 2.9v when the mainboard is disconnected. 0.5v for p-dim when the mainboard is plugged in and 4.1v when the mainboard is disconnected. I was able to get the service manual and still have some stuff to try. Some of the DC regulators/transistors have unusual makings that I cannot lookup (see pic, are the pin layouts usually the same on this transistor?). I'll take it since there is...

UN55B8000XF No Backlights/Picture on (only sound)
I got a UN55B8000XF Samsung That is not Showing an image on screen nor does it have backlights.
When the tv is turned on i get the "Samsung" chime and can get audio via HDMI, also the red optical audio light does turn on, and the Standby light stays on and will take commands from the remote control. But no Backlights and No Image displayed(checked with flashlight). Disconnecting the TCON makes no difference. I have suspected the mainboard because when the mainboard is disconnected from the PSU the Backlights DO turn on. There is a repair kit for this PSU that has similar...

Re: Sharp LC-40E77UN turns off bad IC detected
I gave up on this one, as the mainboard was used in different models and had special firmware that varied from model to model. One free thing you can try is to put your mainboard in a freezer for 10 minutes, I know it sounds crazy but it has worked for me in the past

Re: LC-52D62U PWR,2-OPC,5. Pictures Included
did some more research on that blinking LED it is very close to IC2002 according to the service manual ic2002 is:
1.8. IC2002 (RH-iXB345WJZZQ)
The monitor microprocessor is intended to communicate with the main microprocessor and to operate the system. It also controls power of the entire
system.
Id still like to test those CCFL's / Transformers, but those mainboard bga's are always suspicious

LC-52D62U PWR,2-OPC,5. Pictures Included
Just picked up a LC-52D62U the previous owner claimed it had a blue screen and audio but when I got it home the backlights came on with no video. I get a Power 2- OPC 5 Blink code which points to the 12V_PNL_PWR error. The Service Manual can be downloaded free at you do have to wait like 2 minutes before the page will let you download it. There is a blinking LED on the main, yet I suspect the CCFL, or inverter failure. I tried finding a datasheet for the inverter transformer but was unsucessful. I would like to learn how to test these components yet the schematics are over my head. It would seem...

Re: Proscan plded3992a-c led tv backlight failure?
budm you are a freakin Genius! you want my first born? you can have him I'll throw in my second born too! I was wrong they are not in series they are in parallel of course it was the last led i tested to be the culprit(the diode closest to the power in connector) your multimeter trick worked perfectly. I took a snapshot of the panel just for reference. Would you recommend the following leds as replacements? they say cool white which seems right but im not sure if they are powerful enough. the link is:

Re: Proscan plded3992a-c led tv backlight failure?
Ok i thought i would update this post. I managed to remove the backlighting from the panel. got a nice cut from the sheet metal like material, now its personal this tv drew first blood! there are 3 horizontal strips with LEDs the middle would not light up at all, thats gotta be the offending hardware. so the strip is out but it looks like there is a glass bubble over the diodes, are they connected, or can i pop off these caps? I also noticed two test points marked "K" and "A". I have a benchtop power supply and...Last edited by icekillah; 09-06-2014, 08:13 PM.

Re: Proscan plded3992a-c led tv backlight failure?
Ok the voltage rating for those caps are 100uf @ 63v pretty sure those are the ones you asked for, I took specs off all caps on the board and they are in one of the attached pictures.
I also took pics of the back of the board the eeprom looked damage free but there is a picture of the back of this "SUPER BOARD". There seems to be only one MOSFET that is hidden under a heatsink. also there seems to be a rather large voltage regulator. Is there any test i can do with my benchtop power supply...Last edited by icekillah; 09-06-2014, 11:57 AM.
