Re: Orion PDP MIS-4220 Plasma Multi Monitor 42"
Thank you for the advice, thank goodness the PDPs are not damaged due to the abnormal voltage.
Referring to the numbers printed on the capacitor,I tried googling 62284 and Z5159 I was unable to find anything related to capacitors. Can anyone advise me on how to identify this capacitor? I am guessing the number 33 had to do with something like 33uF but I am not sure.Last edited by ronnyrtg; 07-10-2014, 02:19 AM.

Re: Orion PDP MIS-4220 Plasma Multi Monitor 42"
I'm sure it wasn't the wrong settings on the DMM as I was simultaneously checking other PDPs with correct voltage. By the way, upon inspection of the scan boards I found some capacitors surrounded by grey dust. It might shed a light about some PDPs emitting smoke. However I am having problems to identify the Voltage Rating and the Capacitance as searching for the numbers on the internet did not return anything useful. Attached below is the picture of the greyish dust surrounding the aluminum capacitors....

Re: Orion PDP MIS-4220 Plasma Multi Monitor 42"
I got the troubleshooting manual for this model after purchasing some parts in the UK. I will share it here to help anyone in the future.
The problems stated above were solved after swapping with good Y-SUS Boards. I am in the process of searching for the boards now. Apparently the Y-SUS boards I had were slightly damaged.
Some of the PDPs were showing a good display when i exchanged the Y-SUS board but upon checking the Vs were over 413V and Va more than 180V. I quickly turned it off to prevent further...

Orion PDP MIS-4220 Plasma Multi Monitor 42"
I have 2 units with picture problem. (Please view attached picture) 1 working unit in good condition, 1 unit that makes buffer boards emit smoke, 1 unit with damaged buffer board due to the previous unit swap, 1 unit with half black screen but the other half is the same condition as the first 2 units. (Total 6 units)
Compare the actual picture from the laptop behind it to the clone display on the Plasma TV.
So far I have done:
1) Checked the fuses on each board, every fuse is good.
2) Checked Vs, Va, Vscan, Vramp, Vxshelf and adjusted...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi everyone, I found this site when troubleshooting a Plasma TV.
My name's Ronny, I'm in my early 30s from Malaysia. Graduated with an Electronics Degree, worked for a few programming/multimedia companies then served in the government's Communication & Multimedia Commission before quitting and started my company in 2012.
I mainly develop web-based system database and do some supplying & repairing electronic products.
I think this is a great forum to learn, share knowledge and build technical skills....
