    Well, an update if anyone is interested. I cracked it open and found a number of blobs of hard glue on the power board around some of the components, most of which looked charred. I put some rubbing alcohol on the blobs and went to work with an Exacto knife and got almost all of it off. Then gave it some shots with a can of computer duster to blast the last little bits away. I didn't see any burnt marks or roasted traces or anything like that under the (formerly) glued areas. All of the capacitors looked good as well. Not...

    Thanks for the tip on the glue, that will be the first thing I look at. Rubbing alcohol softens this stuff?...

    Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm having exactly the same problem with this monitor. Did this ever get resolved? If so, what ended up being the problem? I have a capacitor replacement kit here, but won't bother with it if that wasn't the issue.
